Nvm, looked it up, they are transmitter triodes.

 

They do remind me a little (just a little) of the 4kW transmitter valves I saw (but wasn’t allowed to touch) as an apprentice, used in maritime sonar transmitters back in the 80s...

Yep - 833a transmitter tubes.  They pull 10V 10A current on the heaters alone.  4.5kV, but these are only at 900v.

I believe Bob Sugden in Sydney ade a couple that ran at 1.8kV.  Now you are talking!

 

One day when I grow up and can pull on my big boy pants, I (maybe foolishly) would love to build something like them.  I am known as a dreamer too...

I had a set of the 805M amplifiers and really enjoyed them, I bought them when they first came out.

 

The 805 tubes not only sounded great but really looked good, particularly when the room lights were off.

 

It's one of the audio products that I would have kept if I had dedicated room or a bigger house.
