Item Condition: Brand new
Shipping Options: Shipping is available at agreed cost.
Suburb or Town: Bemboka NSW
State: NSW
Payment Method: Paypal, EFT, cash
Reason for selling: Can't live with the crap OS

Further information: These arrived yesterday. I unpacked and followed all instructions, downloaded updates etc. After trying for ages, finally got them working on bluetooth, and as the reviews say, they sound great. But as the reviews also say, the operating system is a nightmare and I simply can't be bothered farting around with products that have been on the market for years but the  manufacturers still haven't fixed the operating system to be user friendly. I wanted to use these in our motorhome - but I don't have wi-fi in the motorhome and these things keep telling me to log into a wi-fi network. Maybe there is a way to overcome this, but I can't be bothered.

I have all original packing etc and can post at cost.

I have to ask, but why are you using the KEF applications at all?

You can airplay, cast and direct connect to these speakers controlling them directly from Tidal, Spotify or a Mac/PC.

Thanks for the comment - I am not up with the digital world. All I wanted to do was to play spotify from my phone onto these speakers in our motorhome. Some equalisation is needed and apparently there are a lot of things that can be tweaked in the app - but only if it works, and if I can follow their non-existent instructions. Direct connection would be  more trouble than it is worth, and even then I wouldn't be able to tweak the response to suit the environment.

After fiddling for a few hours I made the final mistake - I played the same music via a bluetooth adaptor on my 65 year old stereo system (Leak ST25/Varislope/ RCA LC1C) and was dismayed to think that in 65 years we have gone backwards, not forwards.

I feel you @willandra. I own these (in white!) and while they do sound incredible, I had to hardwire a toslink to make them stable enough to use reliably. I have what I think is a high quality home LAN, and wireless with these was a joke. Even hardwired via ethernet, they still dropped out periodically with Roon.

YMMV, of course--these are excellent speakers and I don't mean to deter potential buyers--after all, I'm not selling mine! I just find their streaming functionality a bit flaky.

Try Yamaha WXC-50 to hook up with your 65 years old stereo. The firmware and app are much more robust than the crappie KEF.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it is really the speakers I need, for my motorhome. I use a simple bluetooth dongle on the old system, and that works fine, sounds great. The house system is a Devialet with Ambience speakers and that also sounds fine with a simple bluetooth dongle. The LSX's need tweaking to sound good in the motorhome but I can't access their controls because of the lousy app. Frustrating - especially as no-one wants to buy them, despite retail price now being close to two grand. Ebay next!

Hi gang, first off the bat I've got to be upfront and say that I do not like how these sound. Bought them from another member here as per the ad below and they sounded tinny and shrill. I thought maybe it was the cabinets and some run in time was required. Risks of buying speakers unheard I guess, but was expecting more given good reviews online.

I then got some plans from David Dicks, owner of AN and went with the build for the 2.8 Mk II cabinets which was the biggest I thought I would get away with for our living room. It has opened up after some run in time and the midrange has come in, but still very little bass to speak of despite the larger cabinet volumes. Really wanted to like these and made for a fun lockdown project, but it's time for me to give this one up and hopefully someone else can do something with them or get them sounding as they should.

Made of 18mm MDF so cabinets are quite hefty. Cabinet is a DIY job so don't expect perfection, but they're not too bad and would look decent once finished. Cabinet dimensions 980mm high, 350mm deep, 305mm wide. Grilles are attached magnetically.

Pick up only, but if there's interest in just the drivers I could consider splitting and shipping just drivers.

Keen to move these along, and think I've priced it reasonably considering cost of drivers alone is USD295, plus materials and lots of time for the cabinets.
