Pmelb
I was doing some looking around at options for entry level amplifiers (Single Ended) and others may find this useful. Price (* exchange rate Jan 2021): Magni 3+ AUD$260 local / USD$99 + approx USD$50 shipping direct from Schiit (AUD$190*) Atom AUD$240 / USD$99 + approx USD40 shipping direct from JDS Labs (AUD$180*) Archel 2.5 USD$180 + approx USD$50 shipping direct from Geshelli (AUD$295*) L30 AUD$209 Build: Magni 3+ Metal enclosure Atom Plastic enclosure Archel 2.5 Metal / Plastic enclosure (multiple options to customise) L30 Metal enclosure Gain & Inputs/Outputs: Magni 3+ dual gain, RCA in, RCA out, 6.35mm jack. Atom dual gain, 3.5mm in + RCA in, RCA out, 6.35mm jack. Archel 2.5 dual gain, balanced XLR inputs in + RCA in, 6.35mm jack. L30 three gain, RCA in, RCA out, 6.35mm jack. Output Power (measured at ASR @ 2 Vrms): @ 300 Ohms @ 32 Ohms Magni 3+ 274 mW 2370 mW Atom 250 mW 1100 mW Archel 2.5 152 mW 900 mW L30 117 mW 1040 mW I was a bit surprised at the L30 output power numbers as their data and on forums many say this is the most powerful, but then found that the values Topping provides is based on much higher Vrms inputs than their E30 DAC can provide (E30 max at 2 Vrms), which is a bit tricky. From the ASR reviews they all appear to have excellent dynamic range, low distortion and noise that is below audible levels. So pick based on your headphones (or anticipated headphones). There are some interesting entry level balanced amplifier options, but this is just a single ended list. Of course this is not exhaustive and there will be other amps, and also other things to consider than just these basic details, it would be interesting to hear other ideas and options out there.
