Indeed it is a switch - an 'nearfield switch' which was an optional extra on the ML1. Here's the info taken from a previous post from Mike Lenehan: "the nearfield switch basically adjusts the Xover for nearfield listening ( closer than 1.5mtrs ) the PRC Xover which all my speakers use includes adjustment for first reflection points ie. floor and sidewalls .
