Dbuns
Hey teams, I have started making frames up to place some Trillogy 1 fabric around my room. Frames are Mdf Trim on a ripped down pine backing, glued and nailed. The hardest part I have is covering my front left and right LCR. As you can see they are placed right between my screen and wall. The first frame I have made does cover part of the woofer. The tweeter is not covered for any of the listening positions at all. Thoughts on this adversely effecting sound? Quark
Covering the woofers shouldn't be a problem, provided you leave enough clearance for it's maximum throw (Xmax). You're likely to damage the woofer surround and/or voice coil if there's inadequate clearance.
Dbuns
Yeah there is no issue with woofer clearance at all. I can run some measurements in REW after I put it up to see if I can see anything I guess
Dbuns
It’s a slow process that’s for sure! But this was the most cost effective and light weight option I found to construct them.
Guest Peter the Greek
It should be ok/can be fixed by a little EQ. Failing that, get some speaker cloth for those panels only. If you're very particular about a colour, VAF might be nice enough to print you a colour on their cloth they use for Soundwall etc
DubbyMcDubs
I am looking at using this in my HT: https://www.parts-express.com/mellotone-premium-black-speaker-grill-cloth-yard-64-wide--260-
Dbuns
So it’s been slow going but I finally have some panels up. the large panels are very difficult to keep the sides square after stretching the fabric. Even with cross bracing. I think if I were to do it again I would use thicker ply wood for the large panels. I like the look so far, just cleans it all up.
Dbuns
Figured I would post the final product. Took me a long time in between other projects. Certainly not perfect, but the panels do the job. If I were to do it again I would probably building a small frame and then get one of the fabric wall channel systems. Would cost a heap more but give me the ability to do some cool designs. Happy with the result, covers up all the treatments very well!
Administrator Marc Posted December 19, 2022 Administrator Share Posted December 19, 2022 Well done. Very neat job. I'm about to embark on this myself and have been looking for track options/suppliers.

Ended up deciding the extra price would be better spent on other upgrades for the theater. the tracks would have made the process a lot easier that’s for sure! Good luck!

Dbuns
Im still working at tuning it in at the moment. Got a reasonable responce in the subs, just need to work out the null at 140Hz then ill get onto the full range. Using MSO and MultEQ X for it. Why is the null at 140Hz relevant for your subs? I'm assuming you low pass cross them below that, and the null is so steep/sharp it's likely not audible anyway??? I'd regard that bass response as excellent and you should get on with integrating the mains and subs! cheers Mike Edited January 1, 2023 by almikel additional comments
