I was originally searching for an amp that could also stream but have decided to use the existing Sonos connect to handle those duties and upgrade it separately in future.

We have an ex-demo Cyrus One Cast which has Google Home / Alexa integration. Offering it for $1450.

Could add a Bluesound Node2i for $949 with $100 cashback promotion on at the moment to take the streaming to the next level and be within your budget.

 

It does meet all your other requirements though.

@CustomHTMy preference  would be for separate devices as you suggest - Choose best amp in budget, get best fitting streamer (either right now or in future) to suit my needs. However, there are competing requirements and hifi spending opportunities don't come around often. Hence the need to have it in one box and for that box to be as future proofed as possible.

Probably not in the budget for the better NADs, but NAD C368 is a good option at $1869 with bluOS 2i module https://klappav.com.au/products/c-368-hybrid-digital-dac-amplifier-bluos-2

I'd favour this over M10 as the bluOS card is modular here... unless you really want a touch screen.

What speakers are you running? The NAD C388 might give you more flexibility with power.

Vaf dcx35. 6ohm and 96db. I originally set out thinking id want at least 150-200w but thatd be overkill for the levels i listen at. They won't be my last speakers but my next will also be reasonably efficient

Something like a Bel canto C5i or used C7R might work for you, has HT bypass etc, if you can find one. Also Bel canto are working on a replacement to the C5i with upgraded power, digital and network streaming capability ie. Roon ready, I assume it won’t be cheap but will likely consider it as an upgrade to my existing Bel canto C5i.
