Tassie Devil
SOLD Item Condition: Mint Shipping Options: Shipping is included in price. Suburb or Town: Dilston State: Tasmania Payment Method: Bank Transfer Reason for selling: Upgrading I’m embarrassed to be seen selling this superb headphone amplifier, but cannot seem to shake off the upgrade bug. It is a simplified version of the Violectric V281 which has other functions and the appeal of the V280 is that simpler is better as the basic amplifier section is the same. The review at https://drop.com/buy/violectric-v280-headphone-amp#overview states: Designed to amplify any pair of headphones with ultra-low distortion and rich articulation, the Violectric V280 headphone amp is one portable amplifier that doesn’t cut corners on performance. German-engineered with the goal of driving low-, medium- and high-impedance headphones with symmetrical amplification, the V280 can output an impressive 5.3 watts at 100 ohms. For standout sound quality, the V280 comes equipped with Violelectric’s highly regarded V200 amplifier technology, which many listeners describe as both detailed and tube-like. On its front, the amp features two standard quarter-inch headphone jacks and one balanced 4-pin XLR output. Summing the V280 up in a glowing review, Headphone Guru writer Peter Pialis calls it “a brilliant option for anyone looking for some tube magic on a solid state setup, and an amplifier that can pretty much power anything you can throw at it.” The Headphone Guru review is at https://headphone.guru/the-violectric-v280-headphone-amplifier-small-package-big-sound/ Photos: PLEASE READ If you are advertising multiple items, you must post one bulk price only, or post seperate ads for each item If you include any reference to pricing whatsoever in this section (excluding RRP), your ad will not be approved If you don't include photographs of the actual item being sold, your ad will not be approved

John Raffin
Hi, can this headphone act as a Preamp for active monitors? This is for when headphones are not being used, but say desktop monitors a la Genelec.
Tassie Devil
As far as I can see yes, but it would need XLR balanced in and the feed out would be Unbalanced RCA L/R to feed an amplifier. Later: I just checked on the manual https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1093662/Violectric-Hpa-V280.html?page=12#manual and yes, an internal switch described in the manual will mean those RCA terminals can be used to take the audio out. Ccollins
I have this amp myself and think it’s great. Re using as a preamp it is very easy to open it and change the jumpers inside to change the rca input to rca output as a pass through which i do myself. but when doing so you can not control the (pre amp / output) volume from the v280. It’s just a pass through. hope that helps clarify things for all
