Guest niterida Posted October 6, 2020 Share Posted October 6, 2020 From my back-to-back testing of downfiring vs angled speakers you definitely want angled speakers. Basically do you want to listen off-axis(down firing) or on-axis (angled) ? And the best angled speakers are normal speakers (satellite, bookshelf or standmount) mounted on ceiling and aimed at MLP. Generally you should be able to get better quality speakers for lees money than the same quality ceiling speakers. If you must go in-ceiling then get the best you can afford and with the biggest angle on the driver - 45deg is best, 30deg is good 15deg is minimum. Atmos speakers get sent full range signals too so the lower the response the better - of course you will probably cross them to the subs at around 80hz so anything that goes down to 60 or 70hz would be ideal.
