Their last album before they went 'middle of the road', from a rock / jazz fusion band.

Earlier I was listening to:

Evening Folks.

Had a little listen to some Sabbath...

Black Sabbath  'Master of Reality'  1971 - 2010 Rhino reissue, Warner Bros. Pressed by Rainbo Records, USA.

1643629214_BlackSabbathMasterofReality1971-2010RhinoreissueWarnerBros.PressedbyRainboRecordsUSA_600.jpg.45b4f18ab34ce9abf7d17ade18c0a324.jpg

Nice to have a good sounding record in excellent nic.

I recently posted about Sabbath Bloody Sabbath narrowly being my favourite album.  I have two original Oz copies, one is beyond playable, but the other ain't too bad.  I also have the Earmark reissue which should be avoided like the plague.

I also posted a while back about Sabbath Bloody Sabbath not being included in my three favourite records because I didn't listen to them, I always went for my digital CD rip.

So I'm on the lookout for the Rhino reissue in excellent nic, after being very happy with three others picked up lately.

But, today I pulled out the 'good' Oz copy after Master of Reality...

Black Sabbath  'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath'  1973 Vertigo, A W.W.A. Record, Made in Aust.

1061374704_BlackSabbathSabbathBloodySabbath1973VertigoAW.W.A.RecordMadeinAust_600.jpg.adce487c527aea80009ed492130e8cf6.jpg

It sounds very thin, always thought so.  I tweaked the bass control up two points and it sounded very nice.  A few clicks and pops but not too bad, I'm looking forward to the Rhino reissue to have a near new copy.

Such a great album.  Enjoyed spinning it this arvo.

I thought I might listen and post a few from my 24 Hour list.  My list was done on a break from work and I didn't have time to elaborate on my choices.

ABBA  'Arrival'  1976 Polar Music, RCA Ltd Aust.

This was the first new record played on our new Pioneer stereo when I was 12 or 13.  It was my Dad's stereo and he listened to Simon & Garfunkel, Neil Diamond, Nana Mouskouri, among many others like Liberace and Sammy Davis Jnr.  He also loved Classical and Opera.

'twas the old days before random breath testing, when dinner parties were the week end social scene with families and friends and all the kids running around.  The men would get louder, the women would laugh and scream, and the kids would be playing hide and seek or spotlight out in the dark.

The music would normally amp up after dinner with the popular songs being butchered by drunken uncles/aunts singing along and wobbling around the lounge room.

There was always the off key chorus of the brave/inebriated who shake it up on the living room dance floor too.

BBQ's, Pizza nights & Pissups.  Youthful innocence, great times and memories all tied up in this album, music and record.

Actually rather good. Goodness knows what damage she would do with a loaded Wurlitzer.

Elbow - Asleep In The Back - yoinked this 3 disc set (2xCD + DVD) today at the Lifeline Bookfest for $2.50 ... never really given 'em a listen before but it's not unlike Peter Gabriel fronting Radiohead at times. Will need to investigate further.

Discovering things I've never heard part 2.

This CD annoyed me because of its seeming lack of reproduction of cymbals.  Through this player I can hear what is there but it sounds a lot like, on some songs, they are right back in the mix and in  some cases are heavily gated. I wonder if it is because they were electric?

That said it is significantly more enjoyable to listen to  now.

Sheesh....a "one of those days" kind of work day.  Need a little something with a little edge and grit to be a friend for my mood.
