Dick Diver - New Start Again - 2011, LP.

"We've been wearing tshirts for days,

Birdshit splats into a Southern Cross"

It's been a busy week. I've had @@ABG @YB and @ pop by for some tunes. Saw Courtney Barnett at Taronga Zoo last night with @@Viognier and friends. I'm about to catch up with @@Bell Ringer for some jazz at 505 tonight.

What did you think of Courtney? Took the kids to see her last week, she took a couple of songs to warm up, but after that she was great

She puts on a good show. I've seen her a couple of times before. The Twilight at Taronga gigs are fantastic. Had a great night out enjoying a picnic. It was a laidback setting, but the band really rocked.

Leigh

The Mael brothers and Giorgio Moroder, magic. The title track has amazed me for the last 35 years!

Jason.

I think this recieved an honourable mention in another thread a few days back? Anyhoo, some real moments of genius sprinkled throughout this offering... If you don't know it, get to know it...

When your wife wakes up in the morning, surprises you by smoking a joint with her morning juice & coffee on the back porch and then suggests some Brian Eno... You know you're in for a good day!

Now listening to Brian Eno - Music For Films LP

Gillian Welch - Harrow and Harvest.

Not exactly my usual genre but hey its Gillian! Superb concert Thursday night with more than a few harrowing songs, neck tingling stuff. And not too much hokey country...

This couple really work well together, harmonising perfectly, with easy clever banter between songs.

Dear oh dear

Not only is that pure country music but a deliberate attempt to create what is called old timey feel

That is what makes them so great

And why I can't wait to see them in a week or so

Nadine Shah - Love Your Dum and Mad

Nadine-Shah-Love-Your-Dum-And-Mad-Cover-

Just picked it up this afternoon and giving it a spin for the first time.  It's not a dead silent pressing - there's a slight surface noise in the gaps, which will hopefully clean up with a pass through the RCM.  No ticks and pops per se - just a light background noise.  However, it does sound fantastic as soon as the music kicks in and the music is brilliant as well.  Definitely an artist to keep an eye out for.

Thanks Mr. Beat !

I have Ha!-Ha!-Ha! which I really like, but I've never listened to this one before. Great album! I love the John Foxx stuff, it's really different isn't it, kind of more honest and raw for want of better terms.

Cheers,

Jason.
