hired goon
Signal Hill - Chase The Ghost -- not fond of the boring cover, but this intricate and pastoral post-rock is just the thing for Friday night listening. ThirdDrawerDown
I80g Bob Ludwig remaster sold by Aldi (!!) a while back. This is an excellent remastering. Depth in the arrangements, the drum treatments, and harmonies. Crispy guitar. I kept turning the volume up. Example: I really enjoyed the stutter, almost syncopation of Dirty Little Girl being brought out, typical of the light Ludwig shines on the rhythm and attack that underpins this album. In hindsight it seems odd that there weren't more hits off it, although I suppose there were enough as it was. It's hard to beat a band that's been playing in a crucible for five years or more continuous. Cinematic, sunny, only surpassed by the darker, burned-out Captain Fantastic.
