metal beat
Father John Misty – God's Favorite Customer - lovely album from last year on Sub Pop- has a real 70's vibe cut by Chris Bellman - pressing sounds sublime and cheap as chips.

hired goon
Jacques Loussier Trio - The Bach Book -- CD rescued from the $1 bins, dunno how many (goldberg) variations of Bach's stuff this bloke has been churning out over the years: Plays Bach, Best Of Bach, Bach In The U.S.S.R., etc. Sounds pretty good, though. --Geoff
metal beat
Pity Sex – White Hot Moon. I really pity myself for buying this dud. sounds like a bad version of the Hummingbirds all took sleeping tablets before recording this. This is the 4th and last time this will be spun. ThirdDrawerDown
@metal beat it is rare that your collection turns up a dud. What persuaded you to buy it? ************** Allmusic: Quote To say it’s exactly what you’d expect from a Bats record is not even remotely a criticism; instead, it is the highest praise possible. Unlike a band that just keeps repeating itself with quickly diminishing results, the Bats have managed to maintain a ridiculously high level of quality throughout their career, and Free All the Monsters is as good a record as they’ve ever made Me: Feels like coming home. Highlight: Canopy.
metal beat
@ThirdDrawerDown I bought it from a recommendation here on SNA. I am a big fan of shoegaze, but imo Pity Sex is like snoozegaze that the coloured vinyl sounds like a blanket is over the speakers is just the icing on the cake. first world problems heh. I need to get me some Bat's albums. Teenage Fanclub – Bandwagonesque. now this sounds great Edited November 13, 2019 by metal beat

Janjuggler
Morning All, Menagerie of Clouds by Christopher Alvarado and Ari Porki, part of the Aural Films release on Bandcamp of 247 albums for $US0.50+ From Bandcamp: Ari Porki's music is inspired by northern nature and four extreme seasons. This closeness of the nature obligatory comes through Ari's music even it’s only through simple synthesizer sound, field-recording or sample. As music has been part of Ari Porki's life for decades, there would be some kind of highlights of Ari's past, evolving from his sub-consciousness. Christopher Alvarado is inspired by the people he works with. A collaboration with Ari Porki brought new ideas and a new thought process to executing the right sound to match Ari's dark calmness. Being a veteran of music since 1985(Twilight Transmissions, Harsh Reality,23 Extacy), it is a nice change to start working with Ari Porki in the realm of beauty in creating clouds(the ambient body). None of the others in the series have ever filtered through. Seems like I should probably check some out Isis + Aereogramme is my favourite. It's a bit more laid back than a straight Isis album. Although if you don't like Isis at all it still wouldn't be your thing obviously. And okay, when I say favourite, I mean it's the only one I've got... 1

stevoz
This again....I forgot how much I like this album....bit of a soundtrack to my late teens. It's a blast (and I am quite impressed with this recent German pressing.....tonally gutsy but still quite refined). stevoz
I must get me some more ELO on vinyl.....I want more (but I'm not playing a CD!), so a bit of neo- psychedelica should do the trick. Temples "Sun Structures" 2014........Pity this US 'Fat Possum Records' pressing is pretty average, but would Euro release be any better? Possibly, as the Euro was a double and the album is well over 50 minutes....US released single album squeezed. Both releases pressed by GZMedia I have just found out......ahh, there's the problem! That said, the music is excellent. Edited November 14, 2019 by stevoz
