BuzzzFuzzz
Afternoon all. Judas Priest 'Unleashed in the East' 1979 CBS Records, USA. Made in Aust. One of the first ten records I ever owned. Still holds up today (overdubs or not, I never really cared), a great live recording at their energetic peak. Ozzy Osbourne 'Blizzard of Oz' 1980 CBS, Jet Records, Made in Aust. My original Aussie pressing, after a face peel, sounding great but a few clicks and clacks, although even they sound cleaner. Ozzy's first solo with Randy Rhoads on amazing guitar. Black Sabbath 'Master of Reality' 1976 - 1985 NEMS. Castle Communications. Made in W.Germany. Up for another spin. BuzzzFuzzz
On 16/12/2018 at 7:37 PM, BuzzzFuzzz said: I wanted to have a second listen before posting it again. Opening and closing with a touch of Synth Wave it's familiar Muse music, piano and strings leading into an epic build up. Settling into a more stripped back Rock 'n' Roll with great guitar and bass tones, hooks a plenty, effects playing around everywhere and still a little orchestration, but less pronounced. A nice, twisted tribute to Prince with some dubby beats and cool funk into a fusion of hip hop with a dusting from the East & South. Brooding, relaxed and warm vocal. Side two kicks off on the dance floor at Ibiza before running into the wall of guitars. Again, more familiar Muse sound, melody and rhythm, reminding me of the live experience. Winds down and relaxes with a smooth vocal, nice harmonies and some fatt bass beats, building into a slow, almost dark, brooding funk . I really enjoyed both listens, but the familiarity from the first definitely made the second listen an absolute joy. I have most Muse material, the only album I haven't heard is 'Drones'. I think the new album continues their relevance, I don't think they've passed it just yet, it's vital and passionate and socially/politically aware. The Record itself is very good. It was quite statically charged and had fair bit of crap stuck to it. There was no inner plastic sleeve (lucky I bought some when I bought the album). After a vacuum she was ready, and I was very impressed. It sounded great, very quiet, so quiet I thought 'hard to determine whether Vinyl or CD'. I did notice the volume levels were quite low and I had to crank the volume to get some punch, but punch it did. I'm not real confident on commenting about Music quality, pressings etc. I have a retro, low end system, and tend to focus on the music, while being 100% content with my set up and sound. Training my ears what to listen for with compression, clipping and other factors is new to me, it's only by testing the waters and posting my thoughts that I will benefit from comparisons to what others think here on SNA. Hey @mondie; my spiel from a while back for you man. I really like the album, each listen gets better and better like all good Muse recordings.
