Moving on from techno music, some poppy soft rock from Keane.

I always have a soft spot for Keane, but only for their first and second albums though, much like Coldplay's first and second, a bit of a guilty pleasure!

I have been waiting for this reissue for many years but all the reports on Discogs confirmed this a shitty reissue! I am glad that I took a leap of faith, this reissue while not excellent sound wise, it is a quite enjoyable one.

To me, there are some tinny upper registers but there are also some punchy lovely bass, this has much better depth and sounded more dynamic than Hopes And Fears' last year reissue. That was loud and flat, quite unpleasant to listen to, but to many on Discogs, they thought Hopes And Fears sounded excellent, I was so disappointed when I got it, there you go, trust my own ears!

I'm a fan of the band in the same way - the early stuff is best, although I do quite like 'Strangeland'.

I have both re-issues too and though not stellar, I'm so glad to have them - the originals are still rid-onc-ulous prices...  ?

These will certainly do for now.

Now something mellow...

The Cinematic Orchestra- Ma Fleur

Initially, I only listened to this because of That Home with Patrick Watson. I grew fond of it over the years and it really has grown on me so I have always wanted this on vinyl but it was really expensive on Amazon UK for £36. The reports on Discogs also weren't positive for this a very noisy pressing!

A few weeks ago the price dropped to £19.90 so another leap of faith paid off! What an excellent pressing, orchestration sound hi-res and analogue, the double bass is especially thrilling... quiet too except a few light ticks, and so good to hear That Home finally sounding superb...

Now I understand why the price of this vinyl was so high, it comes in a sturdy hard tip-on box which includes 11 artwork photograph card inserts. Not that I wanted this but for £19.90, it's a steal!

I like Man with A Movie Camera too, that’s the album I first listened to them.

I also like the Xiaomi Light very much, Cliff, thanks for the idea!

Enjoying the latest Beck on red vinyl - Colors. Enjoyable set of tunes and pressing is excellent. Has anyone tried the 45rpm release of this? The 33rpm is very very good and interested to know if the 45 is better again.

Battles - MIrrored first up this arvo.  Nice sound.  It's funny how a particular part of a song can get you to buy an album.  I'd heard a few singles off the album and didn't mind them, but the ending to Tonto finally convinced me to buy it.  The fact that I can remember that bit of information is probably why my life is so ****.  They weren't bad live either.

Then something a *bit* heavier with YLVA.  I really hope these guys tour up here again.  Damn good album and was awesome to see them live.

The beers are flowing, so I'm sure I'll be annoying you all later.  :D

Running order so far tonight -

Ten Years After - Stonedhenge - Alvin and the boys... good fun.

Jason Loewenstein - At sixes and sevens - Love Sebadoh and love this solo effort. Played every instrument on the album and recorded it in his basement.

John McBain - The in-flight feature - Muy psychedelic. 20180615_195043.thumb.jpg.ce21339b5ec470d63529d1b043accc8c.jpg

Great album ... both it and previous album Edin are available as "Name Yer Price" lossless downloads from Bandcamp (here and here).

To start the day off

Nils Frahm - All Melody

Bit of woofer wobble in first track. Not sure if that's what others have experienced, apart from that hiccup, quiet and great SQ from track 2 onwards.

Edit- and some funny distortion on the piano track 1 side 2. But track 2 completely clear of it.. strange.
