Speed wise they got near it, some would say past as the i30N sure is quick and a fun car to drive.  Will a  8 speed DCT broaden it's appeal, time will tell.

Sorry, i just meant in terms of sales numbers.

Yeah I did get that, hence the "Will a  8 speed DCT broaden it's appeal, time will tell. " bit.

Looks like a fun car to me. Perhaps I'm not old enough.

Yeah, I am loving how it seems to irritate the grey haired brigade....

They obviously did it right.

The base Yaris just got a 5 star ancap safety rating as well.

Sod all to do with age.

Assuming one misses the first 1000 and it becomes $50K give me this instead, any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Didn't think you could get one of those for $50k.

Still don't understand why you think the Yaris is ridiculous though.

A compact and affordable hot hatch with some serious mechanicals including a proper AWD system unlike what the Germans give us.

interesting thing is that it would probably be the older folks who will most likely buy this in japan.

Granted the Yaris is a smaller class than cars such as the Megane, Golf et al the additional engineering appears to be a step above most of them>  If you can get $10K off the performance pack version that would make it a great car at a competitive price. (albeit probably not a DD for a person with a family - something I don't think it is marketed to:)).

I was looking for the electric car thread and got distracted by all the fuss over a manual Yaris with teeth. I should get my sister to trade her Yaris on one of these.😎.  Some people, are saying they prefer a Megan over this.  Can’t see why, this has a manual box.  It’s a proper drivers car where you do stuff yourself.

What  surprised me in a negative way is the weight. My Peugeot 308 was bigger and from memory it weighed fractionally less.  At 1280kg it’s actually the same weight as a VW e-up battery electric with 37kWh battery. Someone needs to GR the e- Up....“.Gruppy“.  Not a manual, but way better than any auto with a turbo..  That could be an amusing future focused micro drivers car.
