I'm not a fan of room correction but also the room is very small for these speakers really overkill,  no eq will fix this

I'd look at eq like Dirac Live before selling these if in-room performance is the issue...

what's the size of the room?

It's basically a bedroom but it's a woodin cabin with a cork floorboard and a low ceiling. When sell my Sonus Faber I will look at their standmounts and others that have demo pairs that I can try at home

They said I'd lose too much trading back in but if I'd gone elsewhere I'd probably would have been much better off.  Ironically the dealer I wanted to go thru stopped selling Sonus Faber, They demoed a bunch of speakers from dynaudio to pmc and paradigm  persona but when I heard the Sonus Faber at the other dealer I new straight away they were fore but I forgot about room acoustics

That's a shame, usually dealers selling that level of product will try and help out and build relationships with their customers knowing they'll come back in the future.

They look like beautiful speakers, SF build quality is exceptional. Are you hoping to get the stand mount version instead?

Anyway, I hope it all works out for you.

I also thought the dealer might have been willing to support you. I wonder if it is worth seeing if anyone here has something to swap with you that would suit you both?

Yeah if someone here wants them I'll give them a good deal and get Sonus Faber standmounts,  maybe the amati tradition, I've had lots of nice comments about the speakers but no purchase enquiries, am I in the right forum??

I think the 22k speaker quick sale forum has been shut down unfortunately.. ;)

Lovely speakers. I’m sure they’ll sell eventually.

True had the same problem before.  Big floor stander speakers are not suited for small room.  It needs some space to breath.   The speakers are so close to the back wall as I can see from the photo.  Maybe try moving it forward and dont toe in if it is too clear or toe it in if you want more clarify.  I had  the Sonus Faber Domus Grand Piano.   GLWTS

Just hold on to them. You wont be satisfied with standmounts. I have the same problem with my 802. I took them 600mm out of the wall, spreading them as wide as possible. I listen at low volume @ 25% of my system capacity. And I now work a lot harder to change the house. It gives you motivation.

I recommend talking to Geof from Hey Now Hifi if you're ever in the market for high end speakers. He can practically source anything for you. His service is second to none and his pricing is incredibly very sharp!!

Ha ha, I had lots of calls from  gumtree but they were either scammers or low ballers, eBay takes 10 percent hopefully I'll get a buyer

Could you list on Gumtree first, then click on the link that allows you to 'post to eBay' with no fees (limit of 2 per month)? This might help with fees.

      Absolute beast of an amp.
Please note the 851W is pictured with it's accompanying 861D DAC (both for sale)

Here's the technical specs from the makers.

      CLASS XD
Rather than use a Class A design, which is sonically brilliant but generates vast amounts of heat, or a Class AB design, which is efficient but sonically limited, we developed our own Class XD amplifier design which the 851W takes advantage of. This has the sonic purity of Class A and the efficiency of Class AB for the best of both worlds. For more information on our unique patented Class XD technology watch the video at the bottom of the page or click here for a full description.

      TERRAPIN BUFFERING
When designing a stereo system, listeners are often encouraged to think about system matching, where components are handpicked to provide the best overall sound quality. People often assume this is due to the different audio characteristics, but frequently it is due to impedance (the relationship between voltage and current input/output) matching components. Products perform at their optimum when their input and output impedances match. This isn’t always possible though so we decided to develop our unique Terrapin impedance buffering module. This enables the 851W to be paired with a huge variety of audio sources and pre-amplifiers of varying impedance without risking any sacrifice in musicality or overall audio performance.

      POWER AND CONTROL
To build the 851W to be the best toroidal transformers were essential. But rather than use one for everything we designated one for the sound amplification itself, and another for the input circuitry. This means the signal is unaffected by audio output volume, so always sounds fantastic. The primary toroidal transformer provides unrestricted power to the dual mono amplification blocks. It’s a true audiophile transformer that will operate without distortion and with no buzz, interference or hum. The second smaller toroidal transformer takes care of pre-amplification processes. View the videos below for an insight on why we use toroidal transformers.

      FLEXIBLE CONFIGURATION
The 851W can be used in stereo, bi-amped or bridged mono configurations. In bridged mono mode into 8 Ohms the 851W is a 500W monoblock amplifier. Into 4 Ohms, this figure increases to an incredible 800W. It can be paired with our 851E pre-amp, any of our digital pre-amps such as the 851N or CXN, or any other analogue pre-amps, and thanks to our Terrapin buffering module it will always sound perfectly matched.

      CAP 5 PROTECTION
Our proprietary CAP 5 protection system protects the 851W, plus any connected equipment and speakers, ensuring ultimate reliability and peace of mind. For more

I've owned this amp for a few years and it has always brought a smile to my face. It looks stunning and sounds amazing. Crazy amount of power on tap (110w into 8 ohms / 130 into 6).

Side panels are custom made with high gloss Jarrah varnish - they really add to the presentation of this amp.

There is a bit of pitting on the top of the amp, but a light sand and re-spray will make it look great. Minor marks on the faceplate include a small visible scratch to the top left of the Function Selector knob, and another scratch above and to the left of the Denon logo.

It is a hefty 18kgs and includes coax and optical digital line inputs.

      MM and MC phono inputs.

I've listened to this amp alongside the similar era and specced Sony TA-F700ES, and the Denon kills it for finesse, control and presentation.

Pretty rare in Australia too. The original sale price in Japan was the equivalent of $1900 today.

Happy to ship at your expense.

      Questions welcome.
