After a momentary power outages yesterday my Aries does not now appear to recognise my connected USB portable drive. When I access the addition settings menu the library setup option is available for a few seconds before disappearing to return again for another couple of seconds.

When I attempt to setup an existing library the scan screen appears briefly before telling me there is an issue.

Anyone experience anything along these lines?

Cheers, Harry

Hi Harry;

I have an Aries G2.1 and have had quite a few issues with ripping CD’s.

To me it sounds like you may want to rule out if the drive is fragged, you could do this by putting some tunes on a USB thumb drive and plug it into the Aries to see if it works. If it doesn’t work, it is more likely to be the Aries. If it is the Aries I would try a system reboot.

Thanks Ray,

I have had the drive connected into my Macmini, is recognised fine and I can select and play a track through the Mac output. Have connected another portable drive which used to also show on the Aries but now with same issue.

Tidal subscription still shows and works fine, am wondering if the power outage has cooked the USB device. USB output to dac identifies my hiface2 USB to coax unit although appears minutes before any sound comes through.

No luck with thumb drive which is recognised fine on the macmini. Has other file types on it but has a music folder for audio.

Maybe the power issue has cooked the USB module....

Seems likely to me unfortunately. I would still try a reboot.

Hi Ray, fumbled my way through that process and now I have a library section in additional information which has scanned my USB drive. But when I go through the process of adding the library to Lightening DS although it sees these files on the USB drive it cannot complete the adding library setup.

Have now sorted this issue after resetting the unit by pressing & holding the underbody reset button for 7 seconds after a response from Noel at Auralic customer support.

Thanks to Ray H for your generous assistance also.

Cheers, Harry

      Item: Auralic Aries Femto
      Price Range: $1000-$1300
      Item Condition: Excellent used condition
Extra Info: After the an audition of a work college’s Auralic Aries Femto over the weekend I have decided to search one out. I am aware of the current listing of an LE unit with external power supply but would prefer to obtain the higher spec’d unit to replicate what I experienced in recent days.

      Hi all,

The current setup is NAIM Nait driving two B&W CM9 floorstanders  and NAD T762 (soon to be replaced) driving the center and surrounds ( B&W)
Oppo 105D being used as a pre amp, connected to NAIM via balanced o/p for music (CD, SACD, Bluray etc)

Need a streamer to be used with NAIM ( maybe via 105D )

Thinking about getting an Auralic Aries or NAD C658 (with Dirac) as the streamer.
Leaning more towards the C658 as Auralic don't have much of a presence here in Oz? ( for after sales issues)

      What are your thoughts?

      Cheers.
