Further information:

A classic vintage belt-drive turntable from Chuo Denki Corporation of Japan, home of CEC and CDC products. This is a fully automatic player with size and speed select as well as repeat function. The automatic play and stop works perfectly.

It has the original headshell and is fitted with an Ortofon FF15XE MkII which is working fine and tracking OK but is on the older side of life so an upgrade to a new cartridge at some stage is worth considering.

I have included a very nicely machined large hole 45rpm adapter.

The belt has been recently replaced.

I have polished the lid and it has come up quite well with the usual polishing swirls. Still a couple of deeper marks that will require more elbow grease than I possess.

The brown walnut vinyl veneer has some imperfections/bubbling at the joins, perhaps from a little shrinkage and due to age.

I will make some suitable packaging for shipping if pick-up isn't viable (I have packed and repacked a lot of turntables during my previous life in the hi-fi industry). I can organise safe shipping/delivery to the Canberra region and around the Bega Valley by negotiation. Total price including packing/shipping/delivery open to discussion.

I've had this turntable for 30 years. I haven't played vinyl for many years and so time has come allow someone else the joy of owning this.

      Specs are:
      CJ Walker brand (1980s)
      Grace G707 tonearm
      Goldring G1020 cartridge and stylus
Original cover (repaired - see photo)
      Original hinges with covers
      Original platter
Original (bronze) bearing is lubricated and in good condition
      New belt

It has just had a full service and set up. The timber veneer is pretty good. It has a few little marks. I didn't attempt any rep[airs to the veneer, but I did apply a little wood polish. I have polished the lid. I didn't buff the lid as I wanted to present the turntable as naturally and honestly as possible.

Pricing it has been quite tricky, but after discussing it with a few people and some input from SNA members I settled on a price that seems reasonable.. Apparently the Grace tonearm can sell for $400-$500.

I'd rather not ship it if I can avoid it, but feel free to contact me.

This is a sensational pair of Australian made monitors. I could wax lyrical about how great they are, but you can just read pete_mac's listing of a similar pair from a few years ago to understand how highly regarded these are -> If pete_mac says they are good, you know it's true..

      Cosmetically, note these items:
The cabinets are in VGC overall with just a few minor marks. One rear corner has a small ding. (see pic) If you have the time and patience, these cabinets would look amazing if you removed all the drivers then sand and re-stain them. The cloth grilles are a bit warped. This happened because when I bought them the covers were quite duty so I immersed them in water to wash them. I thought the frames were resin, but it turns out they are a fibrous cardboard/foam material and they absorbed the water. The warping is not noticeable from front on. There s a small hole in the fabric of one cover.
Original heavy metal stands included, as pictured.

Audition may be possible (with COVID-19 precautions) in near future if Melbourne metro COVD-19 restrictions are eased.

      Questions welcome.

This is a sweet little Denon tuner from around 1979-80 which was produced to match the SA-3900 amp. These units are very rare, and different from other Denon units of the same era - note the different logo and fonts on the faceplate.

This tuner has a few scratches around the power switch, but all lights and the VU meters work. The tuner section is decent and will pick up stations with just bare speaker wire. The AM antenna is intact.

There's some info on The Vintage Knob about the 3900 pair.
      SA-3900 & ST-3900

Note: the Pioneer TX-608 tuner is available in a separate listing.

This is a really nice tuner from Pioneer's 1979-1982 fluoroscan series.  It is super sensitive, picking up FM signals with just speaker wire. There are a few minor marks on the faceplate, but the pictures make them look worse than they are.  The AM antenna is intact.

If you own a 508, 608 or 708 amp, this tuner looks great alongside them.  I've included a net picture as an example.

Note: The Denon tuner in the picture is available in a separate listing.

I love this amp, but it is currently housed in my man cave and is not getting the attention it deserves.  It should be with someone who will use it every day.  It is a damn fine piece of machinery and happily drives pretty demanding speakers.  It has that typical 1970s Kenwood sound – punchy, a bit forward, but never harsh or shrill.  It got a write up at the Vintage Knob – so you know it has cred!

      http://www.thevintageknob.org/kenwood-KA-8100.html

Have a look at a model 600 Supreme from 1975 and you will discover that the design philosophy of that iconic amplifier was carried over into the 7100 / 8100 / 9100 product line a few years later!

The unit is NEAR MINT.  There are a couple of vey small nicks on the edge of the face plate, but otherwise the face is unmarked.  The case was a bit faded so I re-sprayed it with gloss black and it looks sensational.  The original photos were taken before the respray.  The indoor pics are after the respray.

It has MM and MC capability for your turntable.

When restrictions are eased in Melbourne metro, auditions with COVID safe precautions may be possible.

Happy to ship at your expense.
