X100 has limited Dci-p3 colour space coverage.

Not a Projector expert, hifi is my thing but I do have a couple of projectors. From my limited projector experience the X100 specs look rather good.

No expert but I found this

https://www.projectorcentral.com/ViewSonic-X100-4K-Review.htm

Keep in mind that although the X100-4K supports HDR10, it falls short of delivering the full DCI-P3 wide color gamut found in most of today's HDR content. ViewSonic rates it at 125% coverage of the Rec.709 HDTV gamut, based on coverage of area in a 2D slice of the gamut. After calibration, I measured the color volume for SDR at 120.9% coverage of Rec.709. The measurement for HDR after calibration was 125% Rec.709 (85% DCI-P3, 57.5% Rec.2020).

Not sure the difference between the two models, but the X100 4k+ has contrast ration of 4000000 to 1 and the model in the review X1004k is 3000000 to 1

It would be good to see a review of the new model.

I think that's dynamic contrast whereby they measure the brightest white field on screen, then turn the PJ off! and measure the blackness of the screen.

real world contrast is likely around 600-2000:1

A 10 year old JVC will get you 30-80K:1 by comparison.

I have been looking at the X100+ can you explain what the issue is?

Chris

Its important to separate contrast [very simplistically the range between black levels and whites ] and colour space Chris . REC709 is what you have with regular sd and hd signals and DCI-P3 is the standard for 4k uhd and has more colour variations so is harder to reproduce the whole colour gamut . That said 85*% of dci-p3 is good for a cheap projector and BTR2020 is even harder to cover as aussievintage posted so a lower 57.5 % is reached . The dcip3 figure is the important one :)

As said  good contrast costs more and usually lcos not dlp gives this 😉 If you watch a lot of scifi in space for instance this matters 😎

I wasn't expecting much from this review but it apparently has good HDR which would be a first for a  single chip DLP.  It's priced under $3k in the USA which makes it similar in price to UST DLP projectors.   Could be interesting!

Just reading what projector reviews thinks of the latest uhd projectors and theres one that is better on a few fronts -at a price though - the Acer vl7860 . Was surprised its available out here :)  Not only has the best contrast of the dlp's available due to a new firmware [ dynamic on/off lasers like an iris only quicker] but being a laser has advantages over cheaper leds like lumens. And has a good zoom range compared to other UHD's . And has ISF controls so a calibrator is needed to get the best color management..
