Mr 57
Welcome Andrew, and welcome to the world of Quad. They are addictive little buggers aren’t they ? With time and patience with set up, they will reward you with many years of sheer listening pleasure. I do have John Hall’s details somewhere, I will dig them out and pass them on. Do lots of research on them, understand their intricacies, but don’t over drive them....damage can occur and is not cheap to repair. Treat them with kid gloves.... Enjoy !! Jeff.

lebowski
have always wanted Quad 57’s after listening at a SNA members place many years ago. Like nothing else I’ve ever heard, vocals just hung in mid air. Congratulations on your purchase.
tesla13BMW
Clamping boards are safe insurance, but, I've never heard mine come in, even when I was only running one pair. Do read up on their ability to kill amplifiers!

Lol...so true....just one more of their quarks.....but it’s why we love ‘em. Not your standard run of the mill box.... Step upto the plate lebowski and grab a pair

I have thought of stacking another pair once I refurbish them and having them as surrounds But, that would mean rebuilding my other two pairs of Quad II's. Neither is currently on the long list of projects!

I could be both? Almost finished Stereo Coffee passive pre - finishing case work today but still waiting on knobs. ER Audio ESL IV's. One to finish sanding then have to apply the finish, fit the speakers and electrics. Orpheus Silex to refurbish and put in a plinth. JH Formula 4 arm to make a new lift support and rebuild to go on the Orpheus.. LP12 to build up out of parts (need lid, hinges, motor drive) and fit the Roksan Nima. This will be an intermediate table. Do i really need three LP12's? Have all the parts for a pair of 3 way amps to build with active filters and planning the three way open baffle speakers they'll drive. And unless anything comes along then it will be three sets of ESL57's to refurbish and two pairs of Quad II's. It is only an addiction when you give it up! Until then it is a hobby
Mr 57
Your neck deep my friend.....don’t think I’ve ever seen so many projects on the go,....I’m envious, wish I had the knowledge and understanding to take on such things. I too would be as deep as you are One thing that really has me interested is your Stereo Coffee pre build, read good things about them, would be seriously interested in what it’s like on the 57’s. Drop me a line when you have it running
