pheggie
If you plug a 1080p source to a 4K capable HDMI would it be upscaled to 4K pixel shift would it be different than the 1080p capable HDMI input would that be straight 1080p displayed without pixel shift I have a passive silver screen with 2x LG LED 1080p projectors with 2 passive polarisers for LG passive glasses. I'm in no hurry to upgrade if ever but could use one of these 2x2 4k video walls to display 2x1 4k @ 30fps if video wall controller was input with 1080p HSBS https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000208245290.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.2b6e7155w607uV&algo_pvid=c1364431-8d4a-467c-9a09-56ded902b535&algo_expid=c1364431-8d4a-467c-9a09-56ded902b535-26&btsid=0ab50f6215948526872484030ed47c&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_ Don't know if any picture improvement for 3d would justify buying 2x4K projectors down the track though what's your thoughts may never do it certainly I can't afford it for a few years I guess it would be better to use a 2X2 1080p controller in 2x1 mode and let the projectors do the upscaling if possible? I have a JVC X7000 Projector and can only comment on it. In its case with a 1080p source 4K e-shift is optional. 22 hours ago, pheggie said: Would it be different than the 1080p capable HDMI input would that be straight 1080p displayed without pixel shift? Different yes, but I find the difference subtle. I prefer straight 1080p with most video sources. But when I play a blu-ray I use madVR with my HTPC to upscale 1080p to 4K and then the projector is forced to e-shift. Just a few thoughts pheggie which may not be relevant to what you want to passthrough . The videowall controller can handle 3d but not 4k60 as its hdmi 1.4 not 2.0 More to the point ' When you say HSBS i take that to be 1/2 sbs which is not as good as the resolution of frame packed 3d you get of a 3d disc . Full SBS is required to match frame packed and that requires buckets more hdd storage ; one reason frame packed is preferred.. http://www.brorsoft.cn/infographics/half-sbs-vs-full-sbs.html its a shame that 4k never got a 3d specification , that apart I never liked sbs 3d because you cant integrate subtitles without mkv verge and the like ; dvdfab is easier
pheggie
Thanks I could input 4K HSBS 30fps to the controller but there is no commercial content but I do have a monoprice blackbird scaler that can upscale 1080p to 4K 30fps but can do 60fps if required. I doubt it's worth the expense of 4k projectors unless prices drop in the future. I have made a test movie using UHD rip left eye HDR removed aligned with Right eye of 3d bluray upscaled using AI enlarger from dvdfab then mastered as 4k HSBS with Vegas Pro
