Overall in excellent condition and functioning perfectly. This was taken from my friends setup who recently upgraded to a SOTA. Valhalla PSU and was re-sprung around 5 years ago. SME 3009 improved tonearm with RCA's included. Throw a suitable cart on the 3009 and she is good to go.

Two minor marks on the corners of the plinth which are detailed in the photos. The dustcover has two cracks around the hinges which have been repaired, it's a little ordinary looking but functioning fine.

Pick up only. Will not post.

I am sorry I don't understand, what is the difference between this LP12 and the 13k at retailer ????  https://tivolihifi.com.au/products/linn-akurate-lp12-turntable

Outside cometic and ages?

There are people here who will know the answers better than me as I haven't had much to do with Linns for over 20 years but to start -

  • Sondek LP12 turntable
  • Kore sub-chassis and machined armboard
  • Lingo power supply and motor control unit
  • AC motor
  • Akito tonearm
  • Krystal moving coil (MC) cartridge

It is a new version with updated/upgraded sub-chassis and what should be a better arm board

It has a better power supply - the Valhalla goes back to the early '80s from memory and was the next upgrade after the Nirvana suspension update. Can't say I know what they have done with motors in recent times but back in my day they were AC too. The arm and cartridge  are going to add a big chunk to the price. The Ittok was the top of the range and the Basik and Basik LVX were below it when I was a Linn dealer. I quite liked the Basik LVX. Good value for money and a respectable performer. I had one on an Ariston RD40.

This is a good buy at the price asked even if someone bought it and decided to change the arm. I leave it to others to suggest good cartridge options for the SME.

A bit of cosmetic work and tune the suspension ( it looks to me like it is set a bit high) and it will look and sound great. Just got to choose the right cartridge to suit.
