Item Condition: Excellent condition. Shipping Options: Pickup available but audition is not available.,Shipping is available at agreed cost. Suburb or Town: Chelsea State: Victoria Payment Method: Paypal, EFT. Reason for selling: Switching to a bookshelf set up. Further information: Speaker Box 10 S2 is a perfect compromise between size and sound. They are compact enough to fit any living room (or bedroom, in my case!) but still offer audiophile and room filling sonics. Cristal clear highs for thrilling details are reproduced by the 25 mm silkdome tweeter. Lush and engaging mids coupled with powerful and punchy bass are sure to keep your toes tapping. The big sound stage and realistic imaging will surprise many listeners. The Speaker Box 10 S2 is manufactured only with the highest quality materials and to 100% in Europe.

These speakers were my very first good stereo speakers. I bought them new earlier this year, and have loved them dearly, even designed my room's decor around them. They're in excellent condition, and are a fine sounding speaker, which also make very attractive decor in a mid-century space.

Low end is tight and engaging, and these speakers are "bigger" than they look, too big for my space (when properly powered) without plugs in the ports. Mids are clear and tidy, and forward enough to provide excellent frequency response for both TV and musical use. Highs are not particularly directional or sibillant, but clear and detailed without being bright. I'd say, overall, these speakers have a slightly warm sound, but with an amp on the ever so slightly bright side (An NAD C368 comes to mind, they're very neutral but just SLIGHTLY bright to me), the sound would be right down the middle.

The only criticism I have in that is that Pro-Ject messed up in not having a centre for these! The S2 and DS2 Speaker Boxes from Pro-Ject are jacks of all trades and excellent value for money.

I have all the original packaging, as these are only about 6 months old. I would prefer pickup, just for the sake of ease, but am very mindful of the lockdown situation here in Melbourne, so can organise shipping. Let me know if you have a preferred carrier, otherwise, if you require shipping, I'll send these with TNT or Pack And Send. Haven't quite decided, but will definitely let you know. Uber's courier service is also pretty good if you're close, but not quite close enough!

Pro-Ject say they want up to 150w, I've found they've performed well on my 80W@8Ohm Rotel A14, and they went pretty well on my 50W@8Ohm old NAD.

Send me a DM if interested.

With the Essential III Phono you can simply switch between line and phono output, should you decide afterwards to invest in a higher quality phono preamplifier. With its line level output, Essential III Phono can be easily integrated into any HiFi setup.

This was my first proper turntable (had a couple of low-quality ones before, so I didn't start on this one) and my first high quality Hi-Fi component, so it has been treated with near-reverence. I also bought it in a walnut colour, which can no longer be bought new in Australia due to them no longer being imported. I can include either a clear or slightly marked smoked dust cover, which I'll try to buff out the best I can, the one that isn't taken will be advertised after sale of this unit here and elsewhere.

Stylus has about 100 hours of play on it, so a great deal of hours left. Phono stage that is built in to this turntable is switchable, so you can turn it off and have this turntable simply function as an Essential III. a wonderful introduction to the hobby, or a very convincing player for a returning enthusiast to get their feet wet with.

Includes a Connect-it E 2RCA phono cable, a cork-it mat upgrade, and all important power adaptor.

For shipping, I'm pretty set on using Pack & Send as the courier for this unit, as I no longer have the original box, and they offer extremely safe transportation for delicate objects such as this. If the buyer would like to use another trusted courier for the transport of this item, that's absolutely fine too. I'm based in Melbourne, so I'm very willing as well to organise a contactless pickup.

I'm looking to complete my dad's hifi system so he can once again enjoy his extensive record collection.
He's been without a turntable for the best part of 20 years but his medical state means he is fairly housebound
now and music is a large part of his recreation these days. His system is by no means spectacular but the
90's Jamo Concerts, Denon PMA-720ae, TU-1500 (thanks for the advice everyone!) and DCD-520ae are a lively
combination that are definitely a step up from your average department store bookshelf scenario.

My question is this: What would be a suitable turntable in the entry/$500(ish) range that would be easy enough to use
      and sound reasonable?

My current thinking is something along the lines of:

      Rega Planar 1

      Pro-ject Essentials III

      Denon DP-300F

His collection is basically 99% LPs so changing speed is not really a big deal. Stylistically it's primarily Classical
with a handfull of hot jazz and folk.

      Any suggestions welcome.
