Grizzly
SOLD Item Condition: Good Shipping Options: Pickup available and you can audition.,Shipping is available at agreed cost. Suburb or Town: Bridgewater State: South Australia Payment Method: EFT, COD, Paypal by negotiation Reason for selling: Opportunity Knocks Further information: Roy Grant formed Grant Amplifiers after his acrimonious split with Ray Lumley, of Lumley amps fame. Known as the engineer of the pair, Roy went on to build some exceptional (and butt ugly) tube amps in the 80s before fading from public view. This beast revels in it's (ahem) "purposeful" casing with barely a nod to aesthetics, but sounds absolutely brilliant and is apparently known for an ability to drive a 6 inch nail into a block of granite. The casing is very good for roughly 38 years old, aside from a little paint off the front top edge as pictured. The transformer covers have flaked somewhat as well over time. Biasing is nice and easy too with 2 red lights to guide you in and an easy twisty knob for each KT77. I believe the output is 50 watts per channel, but am prepared to be corrected about that! It underwent a full overhaul last year with capacitors and resistors changed, and critical caps replaced by Mundorf MCaps. The rear mounted volume control was replaced with a simple mute switch, though it has been retained for reinstallation if required. Fitted with what I believe are the original ECC82 and ECC83, and a set of new issue Gold Lion KT77 with approximately 150 hours on them, it is ready to insult you with its appearance and seduce you with its voice! Can ship, though very much prefer not to. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
