Hoots01
I had a situation last night where I wanted to isolate the surround speakers of 5.1 arrangement and for movie to only play via 3.1. Our living space lends to 5.1 focused around the couch, but dining table is behind this. Surrounds are currently in-ceiling speakers behind the normal viewing area, which puts them near to dining table. This is normally ok except when entertaining and kids want to watch a movie and adults are trying to talk. I manually turned down the channel level on surrounds as a temporary fix but can't find a setting that could provide a 3.1 config for movie watching. Apart from getting a bigger house, any practical suggestions would be appreciated. AVR is Denon X3600H. thanks.
Andre28
Could you just unplug them at the amp, or otherwise just choose stereo playback?

Hoots01
Def didn't want to disconnect wires and wanted 3.1 as my center is preferred for speech. Thanks found switch to turn off surrounds buried in Speaker Config. Edited June 8, 2020 by Hoots01
