Currently have Marantz Pre/Pro and an Elektra Theatre 7 powering 5 mains and 2 atmos.

Have picked up 2 more atmos.
What I need is 4 channels to power all atmos so I can power 7 mains with the Theatre 7.

Atmos speakers are KEF Q50a.

Don’t really have any idea where to begin?

Main considerations are:

1. Black

2. Trigger in and out

3. Sub $500 if possible.

I’m only needing to power Atmos. Elektra is great but seems overkill for this application.

I have one powering my side surrounds and 4 x atmos with a spare channel

no such thing as overkill 😊👍

yep no such thing as overkill, i did the full rounds of amplifiers and came back to elektra for $/ch or $/watts its hard to beat.

that said understand the budget.... $500 won't buy anything new of any sort of reasonable for 4 channels. even a budget amc will cost over budget.

if budget is an issue look to 2nd hand. older arcam

older rotel... $500 should pick something up suitable eg rb1066 or 1075 or some such. these are very decent amps and perfectly capable....

Confused about how speakers connect to this. I don’t see binding posts.

I agree , best to gain match speakers even surrounds with similar power to all.

I Also run few channels from my Elektra to Atmos speakers .

Do. Not. Skimp.  I use the marantz mm7055 for my four atmos height channels.  A perfect aesthetic match to my 7702mk2 pre/pro and has all the features you want.

Once  you have good power and current to those ceiling speakers you’ll never go to a commercial cinema again.  The level of immersion achieved when the 3D sound field is equally powered from both the ground 7 channel plane and the height speakers is immense.

5 or 6 Chanel Rotel class AB amp is what I think your looking for in your price range.

I use an Elektra 2ch reference to power my mains and an Elektra 7 ch HD2 to power my centre, surrounds and 4 channel Atmos  speakers.

i use a rotel 1066, if wanting to power 4 atmos equally i would not buy that model. it is best used in bridge mode for your front L&R+centre.

i use a rotel 1075.. you will need more than luck getting it for under $500 or  any number with a "5" in front of it. :-)

1075 have come up and many times for $500 or less. i personally wouldn't bridge a 1066. it makes it quite horrible as an amp. which is understandable bridging does bad things for distortions and does no favours for this amp. I'd certainly suggest using it for atmos though would use 2 for rear channels and all rest for for heights ? would mean only need a 5 channel amp for rest of channels eg a 1075.... if one might come up which agree they are getting on and tending to become rarer ...

Impressive setup!

I have the ability to run 7.1 on the floor so need a minimum of 11 channels. Would love the reference for my mains but way out of budget with everything else considered. May end up biting the bullet on a Theatre HD 5 and use the Theatre 7 for everything else.

hmm sorry to differ but 1066 amp runs cold, no distortion when bridged, but thats in my room with my speakers, others may find a difference. anyway i guess the 1066 could power 4 atmos @60 watts a channel.
