Any TV's that feature video delay? Not the usual audio delay

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

G'day all,

Does anybody know of any make & model TV that features audio delay?

I know nearly all feature video delay but it's audio delay I need.

Reason is because I'm doing DSP on the audio on a computer that will increase audio delay and there's no way around that. So I need the TV picture to come before the audio, to avoid lip sync issues.

I don't know of any display device or separate device that does this.

Well there are some separate professional devices but they cost a lot of money like greater than 10 grand and might not support 4K.

Have you tried what you've described above and if so how much delay of video do you think you need?
The more processing you turn on your display device the more delay you'll introduce.

I presume frame interpolation/smoothing for example introduces significant video delay due to the processing involved.

I just found LG TV's can. But I'm not sure how much. I need up to 500ms video lag.

I've got a 2016 LG OLED and don't remember that option so perhaps it came on later models.

500ms is quite a long time for audio delay.

I do DSP with my HPTC using JRiver MC.

What application are you using and what DSP are you performing to create such (500ms) delay?

Very CPU intensive stuff with HQPlayer. There's some stuff that can cause even longer than 500ms actually. Not a problem at all for music-only listening.

But obviously a problem for concerts etc with video.

I see. I have found that option on my 2016 LG OLED TV. I could change it from -5 to +15 and I presume that represents tenths of a second.
