Good ol' OZ turntables

Recommended Posts

G'day,

New here Down Under, but life is hard without HiFi gear and I thought at least one component should be Australian made.

I already have speakers, so turntable maybe? May I ask for your advise if there are/were Australian made turntable brands?

Thanks in advance,

Zsolt

Certainly looks the part. The missus would probably kill me if I even mentioned one of these. :)

Welcome to Australia Zsolt (I hate the term "downunder").

Byer, Commonwealth, Orpheus Silex, Austral-Argo.  Classics from the 1960s era.

OK, I'll refrain from the term, apologies.

Yes! This is it! I did some googling, classics from the golden ages. Gorgeous. Thanks a lot!

Once Analog will not be producing any more turntables or accessories as at October 2015. This website is being kept open in the interest of fellow enthusiasts.

If I were you I would not be worried about buying Aussie TT and buy the best TT you can afford.

not exactly "Oz made" more "Oz customised" but I've seen @81Vintage do some pretty sweet looking work on a Rega TT

Cheers mate - its on rebuild MKII now and would you believe I just picked up the plynth from powdercoaters this morning!

Going matt black now to match with my Auralic Vega and doing my new amp build the same.... also trying out a Kiwi tonearm called the Wand in carbon fibre and the Audiomods MK6 after that. Fun times ahead :)

Just waiting for all the little bits and pieces to come in now and the machined feet to be finished then start the rebuild next week hopefully.

Hey Zsolt - I do custom projects depending on what you are after - mix of metals, acrylic, carbon fibre, foam composites, boutique local woods, internal or external motors etc. Done locally in Tassie, but with a mix of offshore parts and some local machine shops help.
