Good decision.  Maybe if there is some normality later in the year there maybe opportunities for some GTG

Leaves a big hole in the calendar but understandable in the current circumstances @Marc

You can count on it, even if we have to hold it with spacing or outside.

Stay tuned John. 😉

It must have been really disappointing having to make that call Marc, I was looking forward to being there again. Despite it being a let down I (and I'm sure everyone else) fully understand the reasoning. Stay well mate.

Unfortunate but understandable.

I just read what you had planned for this year and kudos for building this into something that would have been an amazing event. Hoping next year will still provide you the same opportunities for creating a milestone event.

Absolutely. In fact, it's given us more time to further expand on the concept. Work has already begun.

We are loosely pencilling in July 2021 at this stage. A return to the month and timing of our very first show back in 2016.

Lots of things to work through.

perfect for all those Uni Students on holidays between 1st and 2nd semester.

Some sort of Uni marketing campaign with cheap tiks.  Could be an opportunity to bring a brand new untapped market into the world of quality hifi. Be a big upgrade from phone + air plugs.

Agreed. We have each year worked with unis to promote the show. We have sold more Student tickets year on year too, so I think we're getting the message through.

😞 I had my flights and accomodation booked. Really disappointing. What to do in Melbourne now.

Really very sorry to hear that @Lazz - these are unprecedented times. Depending on your carrier and hotel, and method of booking, you may be able to cancel or credit your bookings. I had to cancel four international flights and hotels this year already and have managed to get all of them refunded.

This is also another reason why I didn't want to leave it until just months or weeks out from the event to cancel, opting instead to give everyone as much notice as possible.

We're looking at July 8-11 2021 now.

Thx, yes I will probably look into that. It's a shame because I had worked it around a business trip. I'm sure everyone understands that many things that were meant to happen this year will probably not go ahead. Better to be safe than sorry. Fingers crossed that we see the end to this virus soon.

Perhaps if the virus gets under control soon I may be able to do acouple gtg if I still end up going.

Following the unfortunate but necessary postponement of this year's scheduled show:

I'm pleased to announce we have secured and locked in our dates for next year as July 9-11, 2021 at the Pullman Conference and Events Centre,  Albert Park, Melbourne.

Coincidentally, being our 5th show since starting in 2016, we've returned to the original timing and month of that very first show.

Australia’s largest and best attended Hi-Fi, Home Cinema, Integration Show & Expo announces dates for 2021.

After postponing the scheduled November 2019 event due to the COVID-19 pandemic, StereoNET, one of the world’s largest independent publishers specialising in consumer electronics, and organiser of the Home Entertainment Expo™ is pleased to announce the dates for its Melbourne event in 2021.

  • When? 9th to 11th July 2021 (Exhibitor bump-in Thursday 8th July)
  • Where? Pullman Convention & Events Centre, Albert Park, Melbourne
  • Trade & Press Morning Friday 9th July 2021

The Home Entertainment Expo will be the largest show of its type ever held in Australasia, and the organisers plan to bring a taste of Las Vegas CES to Melbourne. Showcasing a broad range of Consumer Electronics, from the largest screens to the smallest accessories, smart and connected products, Hi-Fi, Home Cinema, and smart home and entertainment products, the 2021 Expo promises something for all.

The timing of the 2021 Expo has been carefully staged to avoid existing global shows and has been planned in consultation with our exhibitors, reaffirming the organiser’s commitment to the Australian industry and its stakeholders. Most manufacturers release their new products at Munich's High End Show in May each year. The July timing presents the perfect opportunity for many brands to show their new products in Australia promptly and for the first time.

Show Organiser, Marc Rushton, said:

Quote

While having to postpone our show for 2020 was disappointing, it comes as a blessing in disguise as the Australia and New Zealand markets, and the economy as a whole will face many challenges over the coming period as we emerge from the pandemic,

Quote

Our 2021 Expo is timed perfectly to assist the industry in recovery, and to showcase to consumers both traditional AV and the very latest products and trends available in ‘connected lifestyle’ an area rapidly growing in popularity.

The 2019 show had a long waiting list for exhibition spaces of all sizes, especially large ones. Having more than doubled the floor space for the 2021 Expo, organisers can now cater for a lot more exhibitors, ambitious showcase stands for the big boys, great listening rooms for everybody, affordable spaces for start-ups and smaller companies, and of course a much larger number of visitors.

Thanks to CEDIA’s Australian Regional Development Consultant Paul Skelton, who joins the organisers in an advisory role, the 2021 Expo will be the very first and only consumer-facing show in Australasia showcasing connected home, automation, integration and custom installation.

Register your interest in exhibiting at expo@stereonet.show | Public tickets will be on sale soon.

Have been to all of the shows, including staying at the venue hotel for the weekend.

I felt that show has improved every year.

It seems that Mark is looking for a 'giant leap forward' for the next show,

Rather than the usual 'incremental improvement'.

Go for it Mark.

Really looking forward to next year's show.

Yes, it is a long year's wait,

But it will be worth it.

Look after yourselves.

Thanks Bruce. I just look at it from my own perspective. I have travelled to shows all around the world and as much as I love them, it's a lot of the same old stuff.

I want to bring an element of something for everyone to my shows. I want there to be so much that goes on a want and wish list when attendees leave. I know that as an industry for the most part, we're tech savvy, and currently there's no where to see all the tech that's coming into people's homes. This will be the place to witness the very best in hifi and home cinema, but also all the tech that's starting to overlap into our industry as well.

It really is a massive leap forward if I can pull it off. I'll die trying though and despite all the obstacles over the last five years and some even moving to prevent our show ever happening at all, I see them as purely hurdles and challenges. The show has evolved and grown each year as a result. If we can add more value to you all and present an enjoyable show for even more people, then I think I'm doing a good job.
