For sale Whatmough Monitors S33i Signatures current model 2 years old.

These are a beautiful sounding speaker to match them with something imported you would need to spend

around 20K plus they really do punch above their weight. They were designed by a Australian legend in

Colin Whatmough at the peak of his powers.

Would suit someone looking to buy new with a considerable saving with retail on these being $11,000.

There are a couple of stellar reviews online which really highlight just how good they are with all genres

of music.

I own these in the piano finish...they are fabulous.  I previously had the Whatmough P32 Signatures in the bubinga finish.   A beautiful veneer with a lovely grain pattern.  The S33i has a cohesive sound top to bottom.  What amp do you have driving these?

A friend of mine has S33i also and he is driving them with ME pre and 850. He is very happy with the synergy.

I have been running these with a Elektra valve Pre & ME850 with the input impedance adjusted on the amp. In a word WOW

I’m tossing up between the Progeny’s & 505’s. The 503’s now 505’s have always been the sweet spot in the range for me.

I actually met Colin at Audio Synergy in Perth. Either 90 or 91.

What a nice man, a gentleman.

To listen to him talk. I was in awe of the man.

I knew the family took over from him when he passed. But l didn't know that they were still manufacturing speakers. You don't seem to hear the name much anymore.

Anyway huge fan. Love your speakers. They look stunning and would sound fantastic.

Yes Colin was a class act & sure did know how to design a loudspeaker IMO.

Whatmough is still going strong in Melbourne and have gone back to selling direct thru their retail outlet Audio Experts in Cheltenham.

They still have the same loyal staff building the speakers as when Colin was still running the show.

How much difference was it going from the P32s to the S33s? (As current owner of a pair of P32s....)

Considerable difference to the P32 Signatures.  Much better base which is what I was looking for.  I always thought the P32s had great vocal presence.  The S33s are a step up again with more weight and increase clarity.  The top end too has a more natural sound to cymbals.  Mind you the P32s are good.  Much better than the non-signature P32 which did not impress me at all.

Item Condition: Excellent apart from cosmetic marks on one side of each enclosure, shown in last 2 photos Shipping Options: Pickup available and you can audition.,Shipping is available at agreed cost. Suburb or Town: Ivanhoe East State: VIC Payment Method: Cash, Bank Transfer or Paypal Reason for selling: NLR. Change of direction to omni-directional Further information: These have been with me for longer than usual and not disappointed in any way. In fact (no pun intended) I'd go so far as to say that they have surpassed my expectations, even for a speaker with RRP of $28K - especially with their effortless control, timing, extension, spectacular vocal definition and transparency.
Knowing that they borrow key components from the flagship model Fenestria, they are closer in performance to the flagship than the Twenty 5.26 is below them. This 3-way model features two 140mm super-long-throw Fact bass drivers, hand-built ferro-fluid cooled 50mm soft dome Fact mid driver and Sonomex ferro-fluid cooled 19mm soft dome Fact tweeter; Extended frequency response 26Hz-30kHz; Tall, deep and narrow enclosures, measuring 1110mm H x 168mm W x 420mm D and 26kg each; Twin ATL (Advanced Transmission Line) ports with 3.3m effective length; Single, Bi- or Tri-wiring capability with 3 pairs of PMC Ag terminals & links supplied; Three-position LF and HF settings to adjust tonal balance for varying acoustics; Chrome-plated outriggers with spikes for enhanced stability; Factory-matched pair.

As the only pair to ever appear for sale on Stereonet as far as I know, they are a unique upgrade opportunity for a PMC lover, or a critical listener seeking a truly special speaker at a realistic price. Donation to SNA on sale.

Item Condition: Immaculate Shipping Options: Pickup available and you can audition. Suburb or Town: Richmond State: VIC Payment Method: Paypal Friends, Cash Reason for selling: Upgrade Further information: Up for sale is my McIntosh C2200 tube preamplifier. This unit presents in immaculate condition as per pictures below with only minor handling marks on the casework.

When released in 2003 this was Mcintosh's first tube preamplifier released in nearly 30 years. It was designed by Sidney Corderman who designed much of their gear in the 60's and is a sought after unit having a higher compliment of tubes than current offerings from McIntosh. A recent video review by a Canadian dealer compares this favourably to McIntosh's latest C2700 offering noting the C2200 has a more 'tube like sound' than the newer units which are hybrid design. This unit was available in Mcintosh's catalogue for about 8 years.

This unit has been fitted with a full complement of Gold Lion gold pin reissue 12AX7 and 12AT7 in both the phono stage (750 hours use fitted 12 months ago) and line stage (300 hours use fitted 4 months ago). These take the sound of the unit to a whole new level compared to the standard Mcintosh tubes issued in the 2000's. This unit has had an LED lamp kit fitted to replace the incandescent bulbs as well as new genuine light boxes and filters behind the VU meters. It also includes an HR093 remote control which is in new condition and much more economic than the factory remote.

This unit is versatile with 4 balanced inputs, 7 unbalanced inputs including a brilliant MM Phono stage and 3 sets of outputs (balanced and unbalanced) as well as programmable power trigger controls for each. It has many other features such as a 214 step digital volume control with optical encoder for very precise volume control and level matching between channels, input reassignment, tone override function per input, mono/stereo selector, tape monitor loop for recording to analog medium as well as home theatre bypass, not to mention those beautiful blue VU meters. Signal to noise ratio is stellar with no background hiss from either the line or phono stage.

I have been using this with my McIntosh MC275 for a 18 months and really enjoy its liquid midrange and great detail at either end of the spectrum.

A review of this unit can be found here; https://www.stereophile.com/tubepreamps/577/index.html and here for the recent if not somewhat lengthy review Audio Excellence Mcintosh C2200

Audition available. Pickup from Richmond, Melbourne. I don't have a box for this unit and therefore reluctant to post unless you wish to make your own arrangements.

You can see a video of my the unit in action here filmed early Jan 2021:

As well as a demo of the phono stage running through a SUT (excuse average quality video on this one).
