Apple SSD Enclosure

Recommended Posts

Hi All, Does any one around here know which enclosure I need for my Apple proprietary Samsung 512GB SSD, 12-16 pin, that came out of my now totally water damaged mid 2014 MacBook Pro, 15” ? I just need to transfer the files, wipe it clean and sell it, I did buy a Lycom DT-120 PCIe adaptor, it is not suitable and yes, I read multiple forums and product descriptions before buying it, go figure, I will keep that and still use it with a suitable SSD later, so, please, recommendations for either a USB enclosure or a PCIe adaptor, anything up to the $100 mark. Thanks

You probably want something like the Envoy Pro by OWC, but that'll end up costing a bit more than $100.

Failing that, you could make an appointment at an Apple Store (when they open again), and get their assistance with copying the files off the drive.

Must be something unique then, sorry about that. I thought the second link I included was for them, obviously not. Good luck!

Yep, it is unique, Apple propriety, I already now about the OWC, but surely it's not the only option, expensive too !

Yeah I think you're out of luck mate, the OWC ones are most likely the best bet if you are looking for enclosures. Otherwise it might be valuable to scour for a cheap mbp that supports the blade ssd and sell both? Theres one on ebay right now thats fairly damaged but still working that might be a good bet.

Hi, I did find a PCIe adaptor card that is made specifically for the Apple proprietary ssd, hopefully it will arrive mid week.
