This is precisely how I migrated my playlists from Tidal and Spotify into Qobuz. Works a treat.  It's also a handy way to see how big the gaps are in each provider's library when compared to your playlists.

did you find Qobuz lacking in much?

No, I actually found Qobuz a better fit for my listening than Tidal.

I imported a few big Spotify playlists (24 hour long lists) into Tidal and Qobuz and had a much better strike rate with Qobuz than Tidal. That said we're talking 12 tracks missing vs 5 tracks missing.  More interesting is there is a lot more HD content on Qobuz than Tidal (eg 24/88, 24/96 or 24/192 when Tidal only offered 16/44 or even worse, 16/44 MQA)

That said, I think the gap in libraries is shrinking every day.

Is everybody in this thread one of the invited testers? I'm trying to sign up and it's telling me I need an invitation.

Nope. I think most on this thread have signed up to Qobuz outside of Australia.

I'm not aware of any Aus testers who have posted here(?) - maybe their tester status is conditional on no forum interaction?

I had already created a Qobuz login from the French site, maybe 2 years ago, but had never purchased a subscription. This allowed me to sign up for an Aus subscription (Studio Premier).

Much of the proposed hi-res content - in Qobuz hi-res playlists for instance - is only available in CD quality for me at present. Some hi-res, up to 24/192 is available to me, but I guess much of it is pending the official release date.

FWIW, I am still unable to access Qobuz via Roon - the Qobuz app and Audirvana work fine.

Playlists I've created in Qobuz show up in Roon but they have no content.

Qobuz may be geo-blocking Roon access or perhaps this is a Roon issue not allowing access via Qobuz Aus accounts.

Don't know if anyone else has this issue?

I am not an invited tester. I've had Qobuz for about 12months and gained it using a VPN.  Will switch to local version of Qobuz once rolled out providing artist/song database is equal to the US version...which I would assume/hope it will be.

FWIW, the rollout date seems to be clouded in secrecy which I find odd, I would have thought Qobuz would want to announce a date of release as well as a bunch of information and reasons why Aussies would want to try the service and what it offers in difference to the other streaming platforms.  I believe April at some point is the date however I'd have started advertising a firm date and actually reaching out to forums etc and creating a bit of hype and interest so there is some buzz and traffic....sure it might not get a care in the world from casual listeners and those with free spotify but I am sure most Tidal users, those that have zero interest and belief in MQA and even Spotify premium users will be interested in the opportunity to sample CD quality and Hi-Res files and make their own mind which service they will stick with and if Qobuz suits them.

I have Spotify premium family which is awesome and I use that when at the gym or out for a run or when washing the car etc, and when I sit down I like Qobuz and I can say that I've found very few gaps in the database, however their cataloging needs a good clean up, it reminds me of Tidal 18months ago where things are not in date order and artists with similar or same names are dumped in with others of the same name so you have cross genre issues which are not ideal if just shuffling an artists catalog of music.  Im sure thats a work in progress and by and large its not common thing but it is something that is annoying and you dont see on Spotify.

I should add, not that it is a big issue but there is no song or artist radio on Qobuz and also it wont continue playing similar songs or artists once the album or song you are listening to finishes.  Just small things but again pointing it more toward a focused listen at the moment as opposed to the others.  This might change as their subscription base expands.

All that aside, I do prefer it over Tidal which I also had but got sick of the R&B push and also MQA requirement for Hi-Res as my DACs are not MQA geared aside from the Bluesound Node 2i, which is nice but i've got better so why not have the benefit of using them to their potential!?!

Yep, agreed. I actually got in trouble for what I had already said in here. I also pitched numerous times that we need to get SN members onboard, using the service prior to launch to spread the word. We offered to run some competitions for subscriptions and more. The launch is still next week in Sydney, but since my little argument about the launch date already being in the public domain - I've had radio silence. While I had planned to travel to the launch at my own expense and provide editorial coverage, I'm not sure I will now.

It's still the preferred platform for me, but this launch has been poorly handled.

Thanks Marc,

Wow, that is quite remarkable given the reach you have and also with SnA.   Its my preferred platform also, i've run through them all and whilst I still stand by Spotify being the king of ease and functionality as well everything being in order,  I still get kid in a candy store like excited when I look an artist up and see it in Hi-Res.  Being a metal fan and seeing new releases from bands hardly in the commercial light in Hi-Res is pretty darn awesome.

I have an annual subscription and will continue that no question, I can only see Qobuz getting better.  Part of its appeal may end up being with Head-Fi folk who will like the Hi-Res element on their daily commute and or systems, it might be a suprise sector for Qobuz in Australia?

Good to know it will be available next week, but the anticipation is quelled by how they've handled the launch. I'm on their email list after looking into getting it many months ago. You'd think they'd be hyping up the launch in Australia, but there hasn't been a single mention of it. Perhaps location isn't attached to email subs, but unless you search for it, you wouldn't even know about Qobuz, let alone it coming here. They mustn't like money...

couldn't agree more.

I've had a ridiculous email conversation with them in which they've invited me to "stay in touch" and not to worry about the sign-in process that doesn't let you sign in because "if you already have an account with Qobuz, it will be much easier for you to subscribe when our service is fully available."

Of course you can't "already have an account' because you can't sign up.

Perhaps there's a language barrier, but they really completely failed to see that what they were suggesting made no sense at all

They generally seem on the ball over on the AudiophileStyle forums, even Sebastian in France seems heavily involved, maybe its the local talent they've employed that's the problem!

@08Boss302 if I'm reading you correctly you're testing for Qobuz with your continued VPN setup?

Or are you using your current account without VPN for testing?

If so, have you tried Roon with Qobuz and does it work for you?

Gday @Tobes

Neither mate, I joined Qobuz using a VPN a year or so ago and once I joined the VPN was no longer required so I'm just a user of Qobuz... much like I am Spotify.

I don't have a Roon setup so cannot make comment there.  I use Qobuz via my Bluesound Node 2i and it's BluOs app, desktop PC & mobile phone.

@08Boss302 I wonder if you're seeing different content to me then.

There is a play list called something like "best of 24/192" but everything appears in CD quality to me.

Hi- res, 24/44 and above, seems pretty thin.

I just did a quick search for the playlist and I think you are refrring to this one?  I am playing a few songs from it now and its definately 24/192

Not to sound condescending but have you selected the Hi-Res option in your settings?  This is a screen shot from my desktop but you need to do this with each device.

The reason I say this is because when I first started streaming via the BlueSound Node 2i and I used either my Denafrips Ares II or Oppo 205 DAC I could see that I was not really getting much more than CD qaulity but I went into the settings on the BluOs app and enabled 24/192 and then the magic happened.

Maybe check your profile settings ... it could be default on 16/44?

Yes, that was the play list.

Definitely have my profile set to highest 24/192 setting.

Some material is available to  me in 24/192, so that feature is working, but the above playlist was CD quality for me as if last night ( the tracks I tried).

Some small labels, ACT comes to mind, have a lot of available hi- res content.

Hopefully things change for me next week.

That is odd. I am 10 songs into it - Eagles New Kid In Town currently playing and I've checked each track as its been playing and most certianly is showing as 24/192.

Nice playlist actually, very very different to my normal tunes but I know all the songs and my wife seems to be enjoying it...

Footy starts soon so that'll change hahah!

This classical release is in 24/192 for me - so I know I can stream at that rate:

I am at a loss as to why that would be happening.

Maybe log out and log back in completely?  I'd be trying all that kind of stuff and seeing if helps.

So that seems to confirm that you're accessing different content.

Wonder what will be available on the general release date?

I've logged out and back in several times since starting the service.

My main machine in a M1 Mac Mini, but I've also tried via a Windows laptop. No go.

No idea.

You seem to be the only one that has accessed the Australian version to this point - thats commented on here anyway.

Mine is US, I know there was SnA member earlier in this thread that had tried UK and USA version, I asked if there was any noticeable difference in catalog etc but never got a response.

We'll know pretty soon I guess.

Maybe I wont switch until I can see confirmation here that Hi-Res is accessible to the same content?????

...unless its a Roon thing in which case I wont be affected.

Qobuz won't work for me in Roon (see comment above), I have been using the Qobuz app.

I check what I'm playing back via my Benchmark DAC and it confirms the same thing - i.e playing back in the resolution indicated by the Qobuz app.

Anything with the Hi-res badge in the album view seems to be available to me in some form of Hi-res:951168385_ScreenShot2021-04-09at7_09_59pm.thumb.png.c555fd1162c4b78c60c5a4c563fd6969.png

Cold shoulder now then all smiles when they want to set up a dedicated Quobuz thread on SNA.

I’m streaming that playlist in 24/192 through Roon right now without any hassles.

Look about 2 pages back in this thread for when I did it. I laid out the instructions to repeat for all to follow then.

I’m registered through the USA, not locally.

Yeah, I'm a local sign up so that confirms we're looking at different content.

See Roon is working for you, so seems my issue is some form of geo blocking (for Roon that is).

Have been logged in for about a week now on a local account, no VPN, payment method set up but HiRes is hit and miss with most files playing at 44.1kpbs only.

Was advised by Qobuz that will change once official start up takes place.

How did you sign up as a “local”?

I created a Qubuz account on the French site a couple of years ago - but never bothered setting up DNS to buy a subscription.

This allowed me to sign into the Qobuz AU site and the payment options became available around 01/04 - I bought a Studio Premier subscription with the one month free trial.

I suspect anyone who has already created a Qobuz account could do the same.

However, per the @hammerharry post above, a lot of the Hi-res content won't become available until the official release in a week or so.

The good news is that even CD quality material sounds better to me than the Tidal equivalents (or MQA).

Im in an interesting dilemma, i just checked my account and my annual subscription changes over on the 10th april (so tomorrow our time).  I say its interesting as it will deduct US dollars tomorrow.

Do I cancel it today so I can re subscribe next week once rolled out here OR keep it then change my location once rolled out.

It seems the location is not able to be changed unless you make contact with Qobuz customer service and request it, so its not as simple as just going into your profile and making the amendment.  I cant see them kicking up a fuss as its all money and subscriptions to them either way.

The other option would be to change to a monthly subscription until you see which way the wind blows.
