Stanton 500 advice

Recommended Posts

I have just serviced and set up a newly purchased AR XB tt with a Stanton 500 cartridge.

The stylus assembly is original and tracks beautifully.

It has a yellow patch on the stylus. On searching the net it is not clear whether it is conical or elliptical.

Do the members know which tip this is.

By the way the sound is completely acceptable to my aged ears and is certainly superior to the sound of the B&O cart on the 4002 tt as a comparison.

Thanks for any information.

I think the white dot is the current 3rd party conical replacement.  However, I think that the colour of the dots is not consistent with different manufacturers.

The Stanton 500 is a good workhorse cartridge, capable of very good reproduction, and is often dismissed due to it's rugged construction designed for broadcast industry use.

I apologise for telling you what you already knew.  In my defense I didn't know what you knew.

No need for an apology

The HELP was supposed to be separated as in cry for help

My bad syntax
