dogknight
Hello all, I've come across this forum when looking for some answers, and I am hoping to pick the brains of some the more knowledgable people here. I have been tasked with selling my fathers old Hi-Fi equipment. Some of it is from well known brands such as Technics, whereas others were from Audio specialist stores in SE Melbourne. Because of this I am having trouble identifying how much the equipment is worth. I am not expecting it to be highly valuable, but if I can get a few hundred dollars for my folks as opposed to flipping the whole lot for a six pack, I think it's worth a little bit of effort. I have taken a lot of photos of the equipment with model and serial numbers. Could someone advise which section of the forums I should post in to get some advice on this? I suspect the Speakers and Subwoofers section, but don't want to create extra work for mods and thought id ask here first. Thanks in advance, DK
Mr_Gimlet
You could PM one of the mods, but I'd post it in the Classifieds section with the extra info above explaining why you aren't posting a price. In the details, ask for suggestions as to selling price. There will be people who take advantage, but there will also be regulars who know equipment and can help you set a fair price. If you sell it on SNA, all the better.
Guest
I would just post the pictures here. With one post to your name I doubt you would have access to the classifieds yet I am sure once the pictures are posted, plenty of people will chime in. Welcome to SNA Edited February 25, 2020 by Guest

You could start a separate topic in the General HiFi discussion section and take pics of all the gear and it wont take long for us to tell you whether a 6 pack is a good price or not. I wouldn't bother the Mods as it's perfectly ok to do what I've suggested and it takes the load of them. It will also have the added benefit of getting you the requisite number of postings so you can access the Classifiesds and sell your gear.
TDX
Hi there. I think you can use google to search for value even world wide, give some discount if you wish to make sure they got sold. A bit of research is required if you do not just want six packs. But in my opinion six packs are better

You are unable to post a classified post without prices and, as our new member would have read in the intro to membership, he/she needs to make a few posts before getting access to the classified section. Getting advice in the general hi-fi section, as @Luc suggested might be your best bet in the interim. Welcome @dognight and good luck in getting the info that will assist. Marek021
Hi, Another way to try and ascertain a rough value is to look for a similar item listed in ebay by searching the name and model no....sometimes you'll also find the rarer items listed from the past if you tick the sold box on the left column of the ebay page. If someone has sold a similar item you can look up the original listing and see what sort of condition it was in and how much they got for it (unless it was a best offer in which case you won't know what they accepted). Cheers, Mark Edited February 25, 2020 by Marek021
