Titan 615LX and VBSS

Recommended Posts

Got into diy at the end of last year and I must say, I love it!

I completed two of three Titan 615LX's and one of the four VBSS subs over the Christmas period.

The plan is to utilise these in my upcoming 9.4.6 theatre room build.

The only downside to diy is finding the time to do it, it seems.

Any information on the VBSS would be great. I’m currently looking into building 4 myself. Just started to look at the AVS thread.

How did you find the build?

If you build anymore VBSS, maybe explore the SBAudience Bianco Driver!

Yes, Bianco has higher qts & only slightly higher vas. But has almost twice the Xmax of the Dayton driver, lower FS, Higher sensitivity and $100 per driver cheaper than the Dayton when purchased locally.

I modeled these 2 drivers and the Bianco performed better than the Dayton in 177L and same port tune options as the V.B.S.S enclosure.

Also, the Dayton run out of Xmax at 200w, where the Bianco handled 400w and still under Xmax. EQ boosting the low end will be safer with this driver!

I'd probably add another 4" port to the Bianco for a total of 3x4" ports. It moves more air and will suffer port compression problems when tuned 15-20hz.

Have you made a VBSS with a Bianco driver? Big saving, particularly when I’m looking at 4 of them.

thoughts on a slotted port as opposed to 3x4” ports? I’m looking at the 15Hz tune

No, I don't have the room for them. I aready have a BFM Table Tuba front loaded horn and another 12" sub for now. If i was to build one myself i'd try the SBAudience driver. But that's just me, you pick what driver you think is best for your design and budget. Slot port is fine, same result as tube. My 12" is slot ported. Saves buying port tube or down-pipe!

Firstly to the OP - Wow, good on you for going the DIYSG. Massive bang for buck. Shipping to Aus must have been a lot!?

Secondly to Mushroom01 - Wow, thanks for intro-ing those new SB drivers, the 18 looks amazing value for the $$$.

Keep the DIYSG eye candy pics coming please OP!

Cheers.
