Shibata - worth it on a Rega Planar 2?

It is often said that nude elliptical sounds better than bonded elliptical, as an example.   I am a bit skeptical.  Would be nice to test.

The physics says to me it makes sense, but I have never compared.

I think people is arguing nude has less weight. But surely the weight difference is minimal

Yes, that's why I am skeptical.   There may be also a bit of hoping that the alignment of the stylus to the cantilever MIGHT be better.

We'll see how it goes then. I've oreded the vivid line stylus. I don't know how many hours is on the nude elliptical stylus I have but as long as the vivid doesn't perform worse I would be happy I guess

I haven't read that, but we are taking about a very sensitive thing here, (part of a transducer) that performs via vibrations as it tracks the groove, small things have noticeable effects.

 

Edit: Given all this I'm thinking of the same profile comparison of bonded vs nude.

The vm95 audio technica carts would be the safest bet with  new Rega P2
