Joseph will play Reel to Reel tapes recorded from Master Tapes - some from Cologne.
Stephen Chen will play some vinyl from his vast collection.

The second half of the music sessions will be our popular BYO.  Members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all.  So bring along your favourite music on CD or vinyl (sorry, no USB/flash drives this month).  All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go.

Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others.  Feel free to come and hear the capabilities of the system, or to just share the experience with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Guests are welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound.

Venue:  Epping Creative Centre, Dence Park
Address:  26 Stanley Road, Epping

When:  Sunday 19th January 2020
Doors open 1pm

The first meeting of the new decade turned out be of a high standard. There was a lot of interest as evident by the high number of members in attendance. Joseph has presented previously at the club but this was the first time with his open baffle speakers.

With 2 x 18 inch bass drivers in each speaker they were a very impressive sight and a great point of discussion between the members prior to the start of the meeting, particularly as the open baffle design allows viewing the rear of the drivers and crossover.

Of note Joseph also bought his pre and power valve amplifiers which are of his design and two of his reel to reel tape decks.

The meeting started with the club president asking Joseph key questions regarding the speakers and the background to his design. Some key points of interest:

·         High efficiency, above 90dB

·         Design based on Legacy open baffle speaker

·         Frequency response down to 10Hz (although as Joseph explained not audible)

It was a great start to the year, a very enjoyable meeting as evident by the silence while the music was playing and the discussion between members during the break.

Some of the feedback comments follow:

Incredible DIY speakers. Shows potential - needs refinement. Visually impressive.

Interesting system with a personality. Sounded flat bright, dynamic. I appreciated the effort to bring and setup. Joseph is great craftsman and technician

Great show by Joseph Dillon

Thanks for Joseph for the huge effort.
