Tech Info from Schiit Website:

Prepare to rewrite the value equation in phono preamplifiers. Schiit’s new Mani gives you the flexibility you need for both moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges, together with exceptionally accurate, low-noise performance—for far less than you’d expect!

Accepting All Cartridges!

Many low-cost phono preamps are only good for typical moving-magnet (MM) cartridges. They don’t have the gain needed for moving coil (MC), or the flexibility for high-output MM cartridges like Decca, or high-output MC cartridges that that might end up somewhere in the middle of the gain range. Mani, with 4 switchable gain modes, (30, 42, 47, and 59dB) is ready for any cartridge you can throw at it.

Accurate, Quiet Passive RIAA Network

Mani’s RIAA network is implemented fully passively. What that means is there are no poles in the feedback loop, for more consistent sonic performance. Coupled with precision 2% film capacitors, 0.5% thin-film resistors, and super low-noise gain stages, Mani delivers superb accuracy and performance, even well beyond its modest price.

Made in USA

By “made in USA,” we mean made in USA. That goes for everything we make. No excuses. No “assembled in USA” weasel-wording. The vast majority of the total production cost of our products—chassis, boards, assembly, etc—goes to US companies manufacturing in the US, from local suppliers only minutes away.

      Hi All

First post and Im sooooo excited!

A bit about me. I used to be really into Hifi up until about 15 years ago but kids, career and life got me side tracked. So I have about 15 years of catching to do. I have been reading this forum and watching heaps of youtube in the last 2 months in order to catch up.   Although its been invaluable, experience is often the best teacher.

I have a dilemma.  I like the convenience of integrated, but would always go for sound quality over all other criteria.

Im thinking of upgrading my lower end old NAD power amp and Rotel pre-amp.

There is a great looking  Auralic Polaris for sale which is a great all in one solution imo.

The alternative might be Schiit Vidar, Schiit Freya with Schiit Modi 3 (which I have).  The Schiit Modi 3 is pretty good but nothing amazing in my experience compared to whats in my old Rotel pre.  Is Schiit over hyped or am I expecting too much for a cheap component?

Does anyone have any experience with comparing something like the Auralic Polaris to something like the Schiit pre/power amp?

Can a Schiit Vidar/Freya/Modi compete with the Auralic in sound quality?

The Auralic would most probably have a much better DAC than the Schiit Modi 3 I guess, but what would it be comparable too?

Are amplifier Class A/B (Schiit) vs Class D (Auralic etc) sound signatures relevant?

Im looking for smooth highs (not to forward) and plenty slam in the bass.

The amplifier is to drive some Martin Logan Motion 35x and / or Monitor Audio Silver 8 Floor stand speaker.  I may change to Buchardt s400 / Kef R3 in the future.

      Source will be streaming TIDAL.

So many questions I know but it would be great if some one could guide me.

      Thanks a lot

Item:  Schiit Mani Phono Stage + Swagman Lab Linear Power Supply
      Location: Melbourne
      Price:  $330.00
Item Condition:  Mint - Not a Mark on Either
Reason for selling: I Have a Few Phono Stages - Selling One to Add Funds To DAC Purchase
Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, COD Only
      Extra Info:

Puchased from Addicted to Audio; Not much I can say about the Schiit Mani. Fantastic little Phono Stage that wacks way above its price point.  It has gain settings, can take MM and MC - I only used MM setting with Nagaoka MP110 cart and thoroughly enjoyed its performance.  I swap my phono stages through my system, the Mani would have been lucky to see 40hrs of play.  It is faultless in performance and presenation.
If you are not familiar with the Mani, a quick google will yield many reviews.

The Swagman Lab LPS came about through my researcing the Mani.  I found that it added overall performance to the Mani over the standard wall plug - opened up the soundstage and also enabled better bass and treble extension and kept a solid midrange.  No noise either.
Construction is exceptionally solid, there is a 2 foot DC cable that works as a lockable interconnect between the Mani and LPS as pictured below.  Please note, the Swagman LPS does NOT come with its own power chord, you will need to use your own kettle type or better.

Both items are in pristine condition, I take super care of my stuff.  This is a great little Phono Stage and LPS set up at what I would consider a small outlay. Pictures of all actual items below Pick up is from Preston BH and Doreen AH.  Happy to post at buyers expense
If you have any queries please ask.

      Thanks
