Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Item: Rothewell attenuators (source ~10db)
Price Range: neg
Item Condition: New or Used
Extra Info: Will require a source attenuator as opposed to the amplifier side. I have a naim din as the amplifier so will need to attenuate at the preamp side.

@Fenda

Already contacted them, I’m after a source ie preamp, attenuators not the input into the amplifier. They do two versions. I have a naim amplifier and it has din input so I’m limited to attenuators only on the output of the preamp. The versions on source is reversed to what the decibel hifi sells

They will only special order what I’m after and not soon and referred me to the owners website in England

I would prefer not to experiment and get the well reviewed and tested attenuators

Not sure if this would work but could you use a short cable from pre to attenuator and then your custom amp cable after the attenuator?

Sounds like the bigger issue is your pre and power are not a good match.

Naim gain is +29db and headphone output is 50ohm. I was hoping for a forum member to have what I’m after, but looks like will go to the source in England. Slight dilemma whether to get -10db or -15db

Ah, so you power amp has too much gain for your speakers.

-15dB vs -10dB probably relates to how much fine control you want to use on your pre

I know some of the attenuators have a range of levels that can be set
