No warning, no accidents, it just broke at the level of the suspension on the other side of the plate that the cantilever inserts into. Very inconvenient. Given I like playing my mono records in mono, and my phono amp doesn’t have a mono switch, and summing the signal with Y Cables is inconvenient with balanced interconnects, a replacement cartridge was in order. I got in touch with @petng who was selling a shelter 501 ii mono, and in a very short time, I was in possession of a fully functioning mono playback system again. Happy days. RDM Posted September 23, 2020 Share Posted September 23, 2020 (edited) I finally gave up on looking for a decent Phono Preamp with two MM inputs (why are these so few and far between?), or adding a suitable switch box to the lowly Cambridge Audio 540P I already had. My previously unused Yamaha CR800 does the trick now. Tape out line goes straight to a line input on my amplifier. It has a quality MM Phono Preamp and two MM inputs so I can easily flick between either turntable. I also get a decent headphone amplifier and fantastic tuner thrown into the bargain. I make a very good-sounding phono stage (my "Muse") which I can easily customise to allow for 2x MM inputs. Please PM me if you'd like to audition it (though you'd have to pay for postage to you / back as I can't drop it over, unless you happen to live within a few kms of Richmond).
