Rest in Peace, Ken Ishiwata

Recommended Posts

I'm still findiing it hard to believe, but we're getting early reports that Ken Ishiwata has passed away, age 72 in Belgium.

It was known that he had some recent health issues and scares.

Ken was a friend to everyone he ever crossed paths with, and even in our communication he made time for absolutely everyone.

I think he was the input for 'Special Edition' models which after a while became the 'KI' Signature models, I owe him.

Met him numerous times, first time in 84. He advised me how to modify my MA6's.

I thought he would last forever with his mental being. So sedate and relaxed.

This one hurt.

R.I.P. Ken.

Ishiwata san's What HiFi acceptance speech is worth watching - only filmed a few weeks ago I believe.

Seemed like a very forward thinking man.

I have owned Marantz amps but have yet the opportunity to own one with his contribution.  One day.

RIP.

Ken's signature extreme toed-in speaker arrangement. The first time I saw that at Munich with Fink Team speakers I thought it couldn't possibly work. Needless to say the Marantz/Fink Team room was a standout for me in Munich in 2018.
