The Wall released on this date in 1979.

Hardly seems more than a few days ago that Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2 was burning up the singles charts, does it?

I was in year one primary school, and I can clearly remember hearing that song on the radio. Later in my teens the album became a refuge of sorts. Thanks for the heads up JK2. Will spin the records later today.

Seems so recent, I was 18 and doing research in pharmaceutical studies with it blaring in the background, goes too quick!

I've got an half speed master of it. Had just got back from my second trip to Europe and was about to go for a Skiing Holiday in France. Meribel😎

Still my favourite Pink Floyd album.

I was 17 and had just finished my Army recruit training at Kapooka when this came out.

I was 12yo in 1979.  I first encountered The Wall on video around 1985-86.  We had acquired a stereo video recorder, and my brother had it set up in the rumpus room (not connected to the house), with his stereo system.

It was a profound experience for me at the time, just finishing school, with some father issues (emotionally distant).  We had a few friends around, smoked a little weed and watched it with the volume cranked.  I was totally floored as I had no idea what to expect.  I became a bit of a Bob Geldof fan, hunting down The Boomtown Rats albums on cassette (long gone), and reading his auto biography 'Is That It'.  Unfortunately I didn't like The Rats too much and have no interest in listening to them.

It actually helped me come to terms with my old man by understanding that we were all shaped by our youth.  It helped me consider my dads upbringing, which was very harsh, and I was able to accept his shortcomings, and stop blaming him for being the way he was.

A superb movie that I watch about once a year.

Cheers.

Ant.

Haven't seen the movie for a while, but I do recall the worst ever time that I watched it; at a drive-in, in the rain, listening via the tinny little speaker that came in through the window (and let the rain in through the gap). I also saw Woodstock in similar circumstances some years earlier, in my mate's Sandman. What was/were I/we thinking?
