Ditto here.

Would however add Soundgarden, Talking Heads, Tom Waits, plus most jazz (except Oscar P) and most classical LPs.

My girl loves all the hard rock and modern metal.... she's less keen about all the softer and older stuff.  :)

....and these: Jello Biafra, Devo, FNM and Mr Bungle - may as well be a different species. Plus a pet hate for Bjork.

Re the video, Jon: really well written and produced - kudos - however, feel free to let your voice be heard and ring out.

I don't usually have that problem because the missus spends a lot of time O.S doing Pirelli Calendar & Sports Illustrated shoots. :D

I have no idea why, but my wife cant stand Tim Freedman and The Whitlams.  It makes no sense to me as I think he has a stunning voice.

She also cant stand Neil Young but I get that.    But Tim Freedman, I just don't get.

Women!!!!!!

"her indoors" goes along with anything. We have been through to much to argue about Music.

That's about my limit for Meatloaf too (the snippet played here by OP). I find it entirely too precious and saccharine-sweet. Jim Steinman must pay!

My (now-ex) partner was brought up in regional NSW (Barnaby-country) on the worst types of country/ pop music and can stomach anything. I was the one with the issues regarding her albums by Snow and Spin Doctors (+many others).

Most reggae.

When I say 'most', I mean that she doesn't mind the familiar old Gold-FM-friendly stuff like Buffalo Soldier, Walk & don't look back, etc., but has no time for any reggae she hasn't heard before or any dancehall or dub styles.

My wife refers to all of my blues music as country and western.

Then again, I pretty much have an issue with most of the music on Nova FM which she always has on in the car.

It goes both ways.

The solution has been to listen to podcasts in the car on longer trips.

Nearly everything:

Prog metal

Post-CP "classical": Schoenberg, Stockhausen, Ligeti, Sculthorpe, John Adams, Cage, Nono, Xenakis, etc etc.

Yet we survive.

At times i find myself overly confident that i am gradually helping her understand my great taste in music - she is starting to hum along to a few of my tunes.

RATM - i did make her listen to Freedom once (i may have had a few too many beers and felt the need to share some rock wisdom...) That was a mistake I made up for over time.

But she doesn't seem to mind Primus - Wynona, so hence the confidence... 🙂

Shes (unfortunately) not a music person as such preferring it being background noise so you can guess how much there love there is when I crank the piss outta the system! 🤣

Well that would certainly interfere with your music listening pleasure.
