Need more power

Recommended Posts

I’ve got a pair of B&W 603 with 2 JBL active studio subs (pre out) from a Audiolab 6000a.

The amp is going into protection Mode when asking a lot from it. Simply can’t deliver the power required. I’m glad that it’s doing this and not clipping my 603’s

Question is, what’s the best option from here? Power amp and use the 6000a as a pre? New integrated 😫?

I guess the real question is, what’s the cheapest way to get more power that doesn’t lack quality?

Hi Luke, I see you're in Perth. Is this Wyred 4 Sound amp of any interest to you?

It really annoys me that March Audio has an Australian domain yet advertises in US$.

Completely agree but what's even worse is when prices are completely unavailable.

Yes. Bit strange but chatting with Alan indicates much of his custom is US based. Can build in about 1 week. It's nice to support Aussie manufacturing where we can.

It's pretty easy to convert US$ to Aud with Net search.

I'm looking at one of his P502 amps - $995US = $1467Aud. With insured  delivery about $1500Aud. Not bad for 350/500/450wpc into 8/4/2ohms. Hypex Ncore. Universal voltage.

@jakestar. @mwhouston might be  a good bet as well. I use a 300 watt Class A/B amp of his and it ticks all the boxes.
