LS50W + Audioquest Dragonly Red/Cobalt

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

Has anyone tried connecting Audioquest's Dragonfly Red/Cobalt DAC to the LS50W via analog input to perform the final unfold of MQA encoded files?

Understanding that analog inputs are converted in digital and through the DACs internally.... Curious to know:

- if there is a superior difference in sonic terms

- your experiences with connecting an external DAC that has the ability to perform the final MQA unfold

- and if it's worth to invest in one

Dragonfly red is a headphone amp/DAC. It's not a preamp, The chances that it will perform better than Kef's internal DAC are close to zero. There would be improvement if you invest in DAC/preamp for $2000+ but I am not sure if that would make sense.
