Usb over Ethernet/CAT5 or 6

Recommended Posts

I've been thinking about using this:

https://www.lindy.com.au/cat5e-6-usb-2-0-extender-power-over-cat5-6-50m-5657?gclid=Cj0KCQjwi7DtBRCLARIsAGCJWBrGtKmE_SuMe_ninsSkGb2rHBZv2RXazA-BNRADtCNWEFhY5NoqJYwaAkbpEALw_wcB

My computer is far away from the DAC and i'm having drop out over airplay.

has anyone used an extender with good results?

Good to know, I'm going to order one.
Any drop outs? connection issues to a DAC?

No issues at all. I used the Startech one. Take a good look at this device picture:

And now look at PS Audio's special lanrover usb transporter

Yes that's right, it's just a rebadged device though they make lots of other claims about what it does besides USB transport, ascribing audio superlatives to it. Of course what they're describing is just what USB regeneration over ethernet does.

That's the more expensive one from startech, but they have ones for shorter range. I had the single port 50m version.

How dare you @Ittaku, the PS Audio logos are specially designed to induce a dampening effect that minimises vibration and creates a smoother more liquid sound... :D

interesting!

never knew these existed. I can see potential for my with one of these as I dont really use USB audio now due to limitation of position of my computer to my equipment.  Mostly i use Coax from a streamer to my equipment via an ethernet port in my listening room.

cheers for this...
