ThirdDrawerDown
Rest in peace Mr Ocasek. You brought a great deal of happiness with your music. Packed with hits, and yet side two plays as a near-perfect suite. Didn't need the cheesecake to sell the album - the music was more than enough. Stripped it down and pumped it up: a great pop album. Simply one of the great bands, and they even nailed their nervy tight bubblegum rock sound live. I can't close without an acknowledgement of record company respect for Ocasek's wonderful pop culture legacy. From wikipedia: "Recordings by Ocasek were reportedly among thousands of tapes destroyed in the 2008 Universal fire.[17] "
bigal
Truly a very sad day. Heartbeat city is in my top 10 favourite albums of all time. I remember playing "Hello again" so loudly in my car going to and from uni that the speakers would pop. I didn't mind their last album "move like this" which tried to capture their 80's style
Darryl
Love The Cars, one of my favourites. We play a couple of their songs in a cover band and they always go down well.
surprisetech
Sad News, but he certainly left a great legacy. Aside from all the great Cars albums and his solo works it should also be remembered that he made a significant contribution as a producer. Weezer, Bad Religion, Jonathan Richman, Romeo Void, The Cribs, Alan Vega, Suicide and many others are amongst his credits. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Albums_produced_by_Ric_Ocasek

LeroyLaurel
Great lost in world of music To my mind he did such a big contribution to the music in general https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ric_Ocasek When I was at college I had to write an essay about Ric Ocasek I found out a lot of new about him and career. It was hard because there were no many sources devoted to his life, sometimes I need to use Australian service https://au.edubirdie.com/plagiarism-checker to be sure that my work is 100% unique in another way I would fail. I'm thankful to him for his songs, possibility to went to his concert and charge with his energy Edited September 27, 2019 by LeroyLaurel
