hopefullguy
amp rotel 1066. 6 channel stereo, bridgable to 3 channels mono just wondering if running 2x centre speakers (reasons for running 2 not worried about at this time ) that are 8ohm each are connected "in series" therefore it is in effect "seen" as 1x 16ohm speaker.... and they are connected to a rotel amp with a "bridge" switch (note amp can not be in bridge mode with 4ohm speakers).. does the amp "see" 16oms divided by 2 = an 8ohm speaker? so runs fine? the front 2 speakers are also bridged so 8ohms each... amp "sees" as 4ohms each. Ittaku
It sees a 16 ohm load (8 ohm when bridged) so it won't be a problem. However, bear in mind that two speakers in series act like a crossover to each other, so their sound will be off.
hopefullguy
oh ok.. hmm sort of dumb here so how will that actually effect things? thanks
Ittaku
Most likely the inductance in the driver will roll off the treble, putting it simply. It's hard to know exactly without knowing the driver specs.
