The cabinet is active-vented-box with ultra-rigid, vibration-free construction. The design is made possible in large part by B&W's down-firing flow port, a port tube that eliminates virtually all bass distortion. The ASW1000 features an unusually long-throw driver for delivering exceptionally low-moving mass for its output and power-handling potential. It is magnetically shielded for total placement freedom and has two-way crossovers with both line-level and speaker-level input and output facilities. B&W's active fourth-order, 40-140 Hz continuously variable low-pass filter combines with active, third-order high-pass filtering (line-level) to assure the finest satellite integration. And high-pass filtering is also imposed on the unit's speaker-level satellite outputs. The ASW1000 also has phase-reverse switching, continuously adjustable output level, and signal sensing standby/power switching, a major convenience. It also has an output for easy connection of multiple subwoofers. Gold-plated RCA jacks and heavy-duty binding post speaker-level connectors are another plus.
