FOXTEL ANNOUNCES NETFLIX PARTNERSHIP

Recommended Posts

The truth of the matter is that both companies are under the pump with the advent of other streaming services.  Quality all round will inevitably decline as there isn't an unlimited amount of money available in the whole scheme of things.  Netflix shows are already very variable in quality.  What particularly annoys me is that Neflix doesn't take its role as a global broadcaster seriously - I had to give up on a fairly reasonable French/Belgian series Black Spot because the dialogue had been overdubbed by second-rate American actors.  Doesn't Netflix realise that the rest of the world is quite happy to watch good drama from other countries with subtitles?

I've never had Foxtel because I couldn't see the point of paying up to $80 a month to get a few channels of interest to me whilst having to put up with endless re-runs of ancient TV shows.  Having said that, Foxtel does have some good content (especially the HBO stuff) and it's a pity this deal doesn't go both ways.  I'd be happy to pay a bit extra to Netflix for access to new drama on Foxtel.

Don't forget that Foxtel was showing Netflix originals like OITNB before Netflix started here.

For those that maybe interested, I had to update the firmware on my foxtel box before I could see the netflix app.

I’d rather just have HBO by itself. Stuff Foxtel.
